World Cup 2023 warm-up ODI match: Bangladesh defeats Sri Lanka handily.
In the opening exhibition match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets.
With 84 runs, Tanzid Hasan led Bangladesh in scoring.
At the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Friday, September 29, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka squared off in their opening pre-ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 matchup. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat to start the day.
Sri Lanka innings: Sri Lanka put on a strong showing with the bat, scoring 263 runs in 49.1 overs while losing 10 wickets. Pathum Nissanka’s outstanding 68 runs off just 64 balls and Dhananjaya de Silva’s 55 runs off 79 balls were the two notable performances for Sri Lanka. Mahedi Hasan was outstanding for Bangladesh with the ball, taking three wickets while giving up just 36 runs in nine overs.
Bangladesh Innings: By skillfully pursuing the goal, Bangladesh displayed their batting talent. In 42 overs, they scored 264 runs overall while losing 3 wickets. Litton Das (61 runs off 56 balls) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (67 runs off 64 balls) provided strong assistance for Tanzid Hasan, who took the lead with an amazing 84 runs off 88 deliveries. For Sri Lanka, Lahiru Kumara, Dunith Wellalage, and Dushan Hemantha each took a wicket.
