A royal analyst recently criticised Prince Harry for “brazenly monetising” his grief over Diana’s passing in his upcoming book Spare.
On Thursday, the Duke of Sussex announced the title and cover of his much anticipated book.
William and Harry’s friendship was “ripped apart” by Harry “monetizing” his grief after Diana’s passing
According to Amanda Platell’s article for the Daily Mail, Prince Harry chose the title Spare for his biography “with the unmistakable message that he’s been done down by his family — the King’s’spare’ son, tossed aside, as opposed to the heir who takes the crown.”
As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, millions of people pondered the thoughts and emotions the Princes must be experiencing. For Harry, this is finally his narrative.
This is about actual cash, Amanda said in her criticism of Harry’s book.
Diana was their shared “Mummy.” The difference is that William is carrying his sadness privately and with dignity, like his father, King Charles, and other members of his family, whereas Harry is brazenly capitalising on his pain, she said.
“Had Harry still had any relationship with his brother and father, it would have been destroyed by Harry’s self-pitying, self-aggrandizing, and willingness to sell his story to the highest bidder.
“He is still raking over the past, the everlasting victim, instead of enjoying his new family and life in California,” she continued.
She questioned how much Harry’s memoir and Netflix’s “ruthless exploitation of Diana’s death for profit” differed from one another.
