Due to left ankle ligament injuries, England seamer Reece Topley will not play in the T20 World Cup in Australia, the country’s cricket board (ECB) announced on Wednesday.Tymal Mills, a fellow left-arm fast bowler who was travelling with the team as a backup, will take over for the 28-year-old.
The injury was suffered by Topley, who has taken 22 wickets in as many T20 games, during a fielding practise prior to England’s warm-up match against Pakistan in Brisbane on Monday.Lancashire’s Luke Wood has been listed as a travelling reserve, the ECB said in a statement, adding that the results of the scan on Tuesday in Perth “confirmed the injury.”
