A non-bailable arrest warrant for Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah was issued by a special court magistrate on Saturday in case number 19/20.
The warrant was issued in a case involving fraud after the PML-N leader failed to show up for an investigation by the Punjab Anti-corruption Establishment, according to individuals familiar with the matter (ACE).
The PML-N leader should be detained and brought before the magistrate, according to the ACE spokeswoman.
The ACE squad, which consisted of four policemen and arrived to arrest the Interior Minister, has now been sent back by the Islamabad police.
According to sources with direct knowledge of the situation, when the Punjab ACE team went to the Kohsar Police Station to request police assistance, they informed the officers there about the Rana’s warrant. The officers then asserted that Rana Sanaullah did not reside within the jurisdiction of the Kohsar Police Station because the address listed on the arrest warrant is Faisalabad.
On the other side, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan was reportedly terrified of Rana Sanaullah, according to Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb.
The minister said that plans were being formed to invade the federation under the direction of Imran Khan.
