According to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, normal passports will be issued within 30 days under a new policy applicable to all Pakistani missions abroad. During a visit to Passport and NADRA centers in London on Sunday, Naqvi emphasized that overseas Pakistanis should receive their passports within a week.
Naqvi addressed delays in passport issuance, noting that the current processing time for normal passports was approximately four months and one and a half months for urgent passports. He stated that any further delays would not be tolerated and action would be taken against those responsible for not issuing passports within the specified timeframe.
To ensure timely delivery, a monitoring cell has been established, headed by ASP Shahrbano, the Personal Staff Officer to the Interior Minister. Overseas Pakistanis can lodge complaints via the email address passport@interior.gov.pk if they do not receive their passports on time.
During his visit, Naqvi interacted with Pakistanis at the centers, who expressed satisfaction with NADRA’s performance. The Minister congratulated the NADRA staff for their commendable work. He was accompanied by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr. Muhammad Faisal.
