ISLAMABAD: According to a story in The News published on Sunday, the federal administration is considering taking strict action to stop the campaign of slander against the court, army, and other constitutional organisations.
It is also being considered whether to introduce a law to punish those responsible for such actions against institutions.
This legal breakthrough is very significant because a political party is currently engaged in a never-ending battle against the military, the judiciary, and other institutions protected by the constitution.
A draught of the legislation to alter the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) is circulating, according to sources with knowledge of the law, and it will sentence anyone who disparages or scandalises the Pakistan Army or judiciary to up to five years in prison.
