STOCKHOLM: The first show on Beyonce’s planned “Renaissance” world tour sold out on Tuesday, and concert promoter Live Nation said a second show was added in Stockholm as a result of the tremendous demand.
The tour is expected to begin in Sweden in May and make stops in London, Paris, Barcelona, Toronto, and the United States. The final anticipated concert is scheduled for September 27 in New Orleans.
The speed with which the R&B superstar’s Stockholm concert tickets were purchased by her fans was not disclosed. The second performance, scheduled for May 11, will go on sale for tickets on Wednesday.
The Friends Arena, a multi-use stadium with a retractable roof and seating for 65,000 concertgoers, will host both of Beyonce’s performances.
After her 2016 “Formation” world tour, Beyonce’s appearances this year will mark her first solo world tour. While on tour with her husband, Jay Z, she last made an appearance in Stockholm in 2018.
Beyonce’s album “Renaissance,” which she released last year, honours dance music.
Beyonce won for best R&B song, best dance/electronic recording, best dance/electronic album, and best traditional R&B performance at the Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday in Los Angeles. She currently holds a record of 32 Grammy wins.
