Strong earthquake jolts Nepal and India
The National Center for Seismology of India reports that a 6.2-magnitude earthquake shook areas of Nepal and New Delhi, India on Tuesday.
The depth of the earthquake was estimated to be 5 kilometers by the National Center for Seismology of India. The earthquake’s epicenter was in Nepal.
Following the second earthquake, people in Delhi and the National Capital Region felt intense tremors and hurried out of their offices and high-rise structures.
According to The Hindustan Times, the earthquake lasted for more than 40 seconds and caused panic among locals, who fled their homes.
Other regions of north India, such as Chandigarh and Jaipur, also experienced tremors.
A big earthquake in Pakistan was foreseen by a Dutch research group a day earlier. The Chaman fault line in Balochistan is predicted to see a strong earthquake by the Dutch Solar System Geometry Survey (SSGS).
