Shoaib Akhtar, a former top pacer for Pakistan, mocked Kamran Akmal on Wednesday for pronouncing the word “screen” incorrectly in English, stating “sakreen nahi hota, screen hota hai” (it’s not sakreen, it’s screen).
When asked to remark on the current Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches on a live TV show, Akhtar, who holds the record for throwing the fastest ball, was overheard referring to Akmal.
“While he [Akmal] was a match-winner and did a great job for Pakistan, I overheard him talking and overheard him say “sakreen.” Thus, it is a screen and not a screena. These details should be carefully documented, “When speaking with the host, Akhtar said.
“I did not try to disrespect Babar Azam, but he needs to better himself if he wants to be a huge brand,” he remarked in reference to Pakistan’s captain.
Internet users were not pleased with Akhtar’s remarks.
