Quetta won’t be the fifth location for the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will start next month. An official from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told The News that the harsh weather in the city was the primary reason that all efforts to organise some PSL matches at the Bugti Stadium in Quetta were “futile owing to numerous factors.”
“We are grateful to everyone who supported the PCB’s efforts to host PSL games in Quetta. We despatched a special team to Quetta in response to Najam Sethi, the head of the PCB Management Committee, making an announcement, in order to make special arrangements to organise certain PSL matches there, the official said.
“The team spoke with all the Quetta stakeholders, but came to the conclusion that organising games there this fall would be impossible, “added the official.
“We appreciate everyone’s support, especially that of the Corps Commander and the province government. However, we have determined that it won’t be possible to conduct PSL matches there this time.”
“The delay in beginning the preparations for the extravaganza, as well as the harsh weather in Quetta, are the key causes, “added said.
