In order to assist the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) in apprehending the former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed, the Punjab police have declined.
According to information, when FIA agents arrived in Rawalpindi to arrest the former interior minister, the police refused to lodge the case.
Around 200 FIA employees were reportedly aboard two buses, but they were forced to return without being arrested since police refused to assist them.
However, 15 to 20 members of the FIA chose to remain.
PUNJAB POLICE REFUSE TO SUPPORT FIA IN CAPTURING SHEIKH RASHEED
Earlier, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and his brother Sheikh Sadeeq Ahmed were accepted the additional district and sessions judge’s application challenging the civil judge’s eviction decision for his Lal Haveli property.
The Rawalpindi court upheld Sheikh Rasheed’s argument and overturned the civil judge’s decision.
For a new hearing, the judge referred the case to the civil court.
Sheikh Rasheed, the leader of the Awami Muslim League (AML), was told earlier in the month by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) to leave Lal Haveli within seven days.
Sheikh Rasheed and his brother, according to the ETPB’s ruling, have “illegally” inhabited seven homes, including Lal Haveli. Despite numerous opportunities, the APML CEO and his brother both declined to submit pertinent paperwork regarding the property.
Prior to the partition, Lal Haveli belonged to a Hindu woman, but once Sheikh Rasheed entered parliamentary politics in 1980, it was transformed into his political office.
Rasheed has previously received notices from ETPB; he stated that he had been served with eviction papers in October 2016.
Rasheed, according to the board’s regional administrator, received a notification for an occupied parcel of land next to the AML chief’s place of business.
