On Tuesday, President Dr. Arif Alvi urged strengthening bilateral connections between Pakistan and the Maldives in all areas of shared interest, particularly in the spheres of tourism, health care, and education.
Vice Admiral (r) Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani, Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to the Maldives, was directed by the president to put a special emphasis on developing strategic connections with the Maldives in areas including commerce, business, and investment as well as people-to-people interactions.
In addition, he urged for bilateral collaboration in the realms of tourism, defence, and climate change as well as in the areas of health, education, and human resource development.
He said that Pakistan could provide the Maldivian students with competitive and high-quality education in a variety of academic fields through hybrid and remote learning, as well as through the experience of Allama Iqbal Open University and the Virtual University of Pakistan.
President Alvi expressed his satisfaction with the current friendly relations and expressed his hope that the newly appointed envoy would effectively use all available diplomatic mechanisms, such as the Joint Economic Commission and Joint Business Councils, to increase bilateral engagements as well as cooperation within the frameworks of the SARRC, OIC, UN, and Commonwealth.
Additionally, the president requested that the envoy welcome and wish Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the president of the Maldives, well.
