Parvez Elahi is turned over to ACE by ATC on a one-day transit remand
Parvez Elahi was put on remand after the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment asked for it in the case involving the unlawful recruitment of Punjab Assembly members.
In response to the accusation that Elahi hired his employees, the defense attorney questioned whether a chief minister could not even hire his main secretary.
A chief minister has the authority to appoint his own personnel, according to attorney Sardar Abdul Raziq, who also stated that the lawsuit against Elahi was filed on Sunday.
Since January, his client has been the victim of political persecution, and he has also been arrested immediately after leaving court.
Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqernain of the ATC initially inquired as to when Parvez Elahi would be freed. The defense attorney objected to the transportation of his client between cities.
Parvez Elahi requested a suitable order in this regard and informed the court that he has not yet been permitted to meet his family.
The investigative officer responded to the attorney’s question by stating that the case involved vandalism at the Judicial Complex.
Elahi was sentenced to Adiala Jail until surety bonds were submitted.
The defense attorney said that the director general of anti-corruption made up accusations against Elahi all night long.
Elahi testified before the court that when a judge from the Lahore High Court inquired about if there were any cases against him, the prosecution said there weren’t any.
Parvez Elahi’s health should be taken care of, according to Judge Zulqrernain, so that things are made easier for everyone.
On the other hand, the Lahore High Court denied a petition challenging the district and sessions court’s authorization of Parvez Elahi’s physical remand.
The session court’s decision had been contested by the previous chief minister at the high court.
