Microsoft has been named as Netflix’s technology and sales partner, enabling the company to offer a more affordable subscription tier.
Previously, Netflix had announced a sizable drop in platform subscribers. As a result, the business contacted various businesses to launch a subscription tier with advertising support.
The new service will complement the company’s current subscription plans. The prices will be less expensive than the going rates even though the service charges have not yet been disclosed.
Microsoft has the demonstrated capacity to support all of our advertising needs as we jointly develop a new ad-supported offering, according to a statement from Netflix.
More importantly, Microsoft provided our members with strong privacy protections while allowing for future technological and commercial innovation.
The platform needs a lot of work, but it has the potential to give consumers “more choice” and give advertisers “a premium, better-than-linear TV brand experience.”
According to the terms of the collaboration, “marketers who look to Microsoft for their advertising needs will have access to the Netflix audience and premium connected TV inventory.
The only way to access any ads served on Netflix will be through the Microsoft platform.
Netflix never wanted advertisements on its platform, but after losing a significant number of users, the company was left with no other option.
