Meghan Markle declared insane.
Meghan shared these insights in her most recent Archetypes episode.
The episode in question is titled The Decoding of Crazy, and it details incidents in which she was labelled “crazy” and “insane” by those closest to her.
“Raise your hand if you’ve ever been called crazy or hysterical, or what about nuts, insane, out of your mind, completely irrational,” she began the conversation.
“Now, if we were all in the same room and could see each other, I think it would be fairly obvious how many of us have our hands up?” During the interview, she also asked questions. “By the way, me as well.”
Throughout the episode, she also emphasised the negative connotations of the word “shameless” and how it is “thrown around so casually” despite producing “damage” that is “wrought on society and women, frankly everywhere.”
“From relationships to families being shattered, reputations being destroyed, and careers being ruined,” she continued.
She also discussed how Hollywood portrays women and how sitcoms like How I Met Your Mother and Scrubs ‘feed’ the narrative of ‘crazy women.’
“These labels have been drilled into us by movies and television, friends and family, and even random strangers.” The truth is that no one wants this label.”
She even mentioned the “stigma surrounding the word” insane, as well as its “silencing effect” on women suffering from “real mental health issues.”
“Calling someone’s experience ‘crazy’ or ‘hysterical’ completely dismisses and minimises what they’re feeling.”
“It keeps going to the point where anyone who’s been labelled it enough times can be gas-lighted into believing they’re actually ill, or worse, to the point where real issues of all kinds are ignored.” That’s not going to happen today,” she added before concluding.
