SWAT: IPG KP claimed on Thursday that the driver was executed for “honour,” dispelling the notion that a terrorist strike occurred on the Swat school vehicle.
In the Guli Bagh hamlet, which is located in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Swat province, unidentified gunmen attacked a school van two weeks prior, killing the driver and injuring two pupils.
One individual has been arrested in connection with the killing, while two others are still at large, according to KP IG Moazzam Answari, who also claimed that the crime was not related to terrorism.
The school van driver was shot dead by his brother-in-law out of a sense of honour, he claimed, adding that both the gun and the motorcycle used in the shooting have been found.
Protests broke out in the region after the assault on the Swat school transport. To demand the arrest of those responsible for the Swat school van attack, thousands of people flocked to the streets.
Although no terrorist organisation has yet claimed credit for the incident, locals in Mingora allege that terrorists from outlawed organisations carried out the attack.
Concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province have also been voiced by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.
Khawaja Asif stated during a speech in the National Assembly that it was the duty of the provincial administration to uphold the status quo of law and order. “Armed forces made immeasurable sacrifices to bring about peace in the nation.”
