Singer Momina Mustehsan speaks out against Pakistan’s scant worldwide visibility.
The “Baari” singer used her account on the microblogging platform to express her opinions about Pakistan’s inadequate representation at international forums and summits, given its massive population.
Being the world’s fifth-largest country by population, Mustehsan remarked in a tweet earlier this week, “It breaks my heart to see such little Pakistani presence in international media, global forums & summits.”
Being the 5th largest country by population in the world, it hurts my heart to see such little Pakistani representation in international media, global forums & summits. A nation of 220+ million, yet our stories are told by others. We need to step up & take charge of our narrative
She also noted the irony that, despite having a population of over 220 million, other people are telling our people’s stories and narratives.
In her final tweet, Mustehsan implored followers to “take responsibility” of our country’s story so that it can be shared to the rest of the world.
Several of her fans and other social media users agreed with the notion that the famous person shared by replying to the tweet. “Pak does need adequate representation internationally,” one Twitter user remarked, while another said, “It takes two things a proper education of why, without any corruption at any step, and a loyalty towards the country these both qualities we should have to represent ourselves.”
