NEW YORK: The heretical writings of British author Salman Rushdie against the Islamic prophet (PBUH) were assailed on stage on Friday in western New York state.
People can be seen coming to his help in social media video after he was attacked at the Chautauqua County festival; police confirmed the stabbing but did not immediately release the victim’s identity.
Without providing any other information, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office stated, “We can confirm there was a stabbing.”Rushdie’s condition wasn’t known right away.
With the publication of his second book, “Midnight’s Children,” in 1981, the now 75-year-old author gained international recognition and the coveted Booker Prize for its portrayal of post-independence India.
