According to the Saudi Media, government of Saudi Arabia has appointed first female head human right’s watch dog
According to Middle East Monitor, which cited the government-run Saudi Press Agency, a woman has been chosen as the head of the human rights commission for the first time in Saudi Arabia (SPA).Hala Al-Tuwaijri has been appointed by King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud to succeed Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad. She had previously served as the Family Affairs Council’s secretary-general since June 2017.
The chief is chosen by the monarch, and all members are appointed by the president of the Saudi Arabian Council of Ministers, whose decisions are ultimately made by the Royal Order, despite the commission’s claims that it is an independent organisation and is unaffected by governmental authority.
