Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper-batsman for India, claimed that facing Pakistan gives him chills and that it is “a different type of emotion” than playing any other side.
The Twenty20 World Cup begins on Sunday, and the two teams square off at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in a highly anticipated match.
Tickets for the event, which is expected to have a carnival feel, have been bought up by some 100,000 admirers, yet the party may not go off without rain.
Playing against Pakistan is always unique because there is a certain buzz surrounding that match, Pant said on Friday, according to the official World Cup website.
“There are a lot of mixed feelings, not just for us but for the fans as well.
“When you enter the field and begin play, you notice spectators cheering here and there. It’s a new kind of mood and atmosphere.
“I truly feel chills when we sing our national song. It’s a different mood.”
Since he appears to be competing with seasoned wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik for the position, Pant is not guaranteed to play, but he may still be used as a specialist batsman if the selectors decide to strengthen their middle order.
On Star Sports, Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar expressed his opinion that both players might be accommodated.
He explained that Pant might not be able to get a spot if they choose to use six bowlers, with Hardik Pandya as the sixth bowler.
However, if they choose to use Hardik Pandya as their fifth bowler, Rishabh Pant will get the chance to bat at number six and Karthik could possibly bat at number seven before the four bowlers.
If chosen, Pant said he will consult Virat Kohli for guidance.
It’s beneficial to bat beside someone who has a lot of experience because he can teach you how to approach the game and how to keep up that run-a-ball pressure, the man stated.
