gold rate in pakistan today 24 March 2023 1 1024x576 4

Price of gold as of October 4, 2023

What is the current gold price?
As of 9 a.m. ET, the price of gold was $1,827.36 per troy ounce. That represents an increase of 0.13% from yesterday’s gold price per ounce and a decrease of 0.63% from the year’s commencement.

The ounce’s lowest trading price over the last 24 hours was $1,816.77. The most expensive spot gold price in the previous 24 hours was $1,833.42 per ounce.

Unlike futures contracts, which indicate a future delivery, spot prices represent the costs of transactions that are resolved “on the spot,” or right away.

The price of gold might change as the trading day moves from Asia to North America because it is traded continuously.

The label for locating the spot gold price exchanged in U.S. dollars is XAU/USD. In this instance, the price of one (troy) ounce of gold in USD is represented by the price of gold (XAU), which is traded against the dollar. Other foreign exchange markets exist, such as XAU/EUR for trading in euros and XAU/GBP for dealing in British pounds.

During market hours, the price is adjusted every few seconds based on real-time trading activity.

Numerous factors, including global supply and demand dynamics, geopolitical developments, changes in the value of the currency, interest rates, and macroeconomic indicators, have an impact on it.

spot price of gold
The spot gold price, which is commonly expressed as the gold price per troy ounce in U.S. dollars, is the price at which gold can be traded and delivered. Prices can also be given in terms of grammes and kilogrammes. It’s important to remember that a troy ounce weighs a little bit more than a regular ounce.

After the Ankara bombing, Turkey launches further airstrikes in northern Iraq.

Turkey, 4 October (Reuters) – Since the banned Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) took responsibility for a bombing near government facilities in Ankara on Sunday, Turkish air forces have destroyed 58 targets of the PKK in northern Iraq.

At 7 p.m. (1600 GMT) on Wednesday, the third operation since the bombing on Sunday, was carried out in northern Iraq’s Metina, Hakurk, Gara, Qandil, and Asos districts. Many PKK terrorists were “neutralised,” a term that typically refers to being dead, according to Turkey’s military ministry.

All PKK and Syrian Kurdish YPG militia facilities in Iraq and Syria, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, are “legitimate targets”.

According to Turkish media, Thabet al-Abbasi, the minister of defence for Iraq, will go to Ankara on Thursday to meet with Yasar Guler, his Turkish counterpart.

On Sunday in Ankara, two assailants exploded a device close to government buildings, killing both of them and injuring two policemen.

Taliban calls threat of expelling Afghan immigrants from Pakistan “inacceptable”

ISLAMABAD: According to a Taliban administration spokeswoman in Kabul, Pakistan’s threat to forcibly deport illegal Afghan immigrants is “unacceptable,” and Afghans are not to blame for Pakistan’s security issues.
Pakistan’s caretaker administration on Tuesday issued an ultimatum for the 1.73 million Afghan immigrants who are believed to be living there illegally, giving them until Nov. 1 to leave or fear being expelled forcibly.
The spokesman for the Taliban government in Kabul, Zabihullah Mujahid, wrote on the social networking website X, formerly known as Twitter, “The behaviour of Pakistan towards Afghan refugees is unacceptable.”

Sarfraz Bugti, Pakistan’s interior minister, claimed that Afghan nationals were responsible for 14 of the 24 suicide bombs that took place in Pakistan this year in order to assist explain the crackdown.
That assertion was refuted by the Taliban spokesman.
“The Pakistani side needs to rethink its strategy. Pakistan’s security issues are unrelated to Afghan refugees. Pakistan ought to accept them as long as they depart voluntarily, said Mujahid.

The majority of the immigrants, who have been living in Pakistan for years, were given an ultimatum by Pakistan after civil and military leaders met to discuss the law and order situation in the wake of two suicide attacks on Friday that left at least 57 people dead. According to Bugti, one of the suicide bombers was an Afghan citizen. He also made allegations against India’s intelligence service.

Border battles this month temporarily shut down the primary commercial route between the neighbours, signalling a significant deterioration in the relationship between the Taliban and the Pakistani government.
Islamabad claims that the Taliban train fighters on Afghan soil and organise operations inside Pakistan. These charges are refuted by the Taliban, who asserts that Pakistan’s security issues are internal.
The military has been able to exercise more power as a result of the unpredictability and instability in the nation. A caretaker government was set up in August to lead Pakistan through elections anticipated in the following months.

Babar Azam downplays the stress of performing in India

Prior to the ICC World Cup opening between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium, india on October 5, all 10 captains of the participating nations were present at a special media session on Wednesday in Ahmedabad.

In addition to Temba Bavuma, Dasun Shanaka, and others, Babar Azam of Pakistan, Rohit Sharma of India, Jos Buttler of England, Kane Williamson of New Zealand, and Pat Cummins of Australia attended the Captain’s Day event.

Babar Azam downplays the stress of performing in India

The media posed a number of questions to Azam, who was seated next to Buttler, and the 28-year-old responded to each one while outlining his team’s preparations.

In India, we had a warm welcome, Azam remarked. “India has provided excellent hospitality; we feel at home.”

“We’ve been playing together for the past three years, and our bowling is what makes us stand out. We are striving hard for it every day and will give it our all. There won’t be any pressure to perform in India because the environment is similar to that of Pakistan.

The 28-year-old added that while the team is feeling comfortable in Hyderabad, Pakistani supporters would have made the atmosphere even better.

“We’re having fun in Hyderabad. Although it is fantastic to be in India, he continued, “our followers being present would have made the experience much better.

Since Shadab Khan quip that the Men in Green fielded poorly against Australia in their warm-up match because they had consumed a lot of Biryani, Hyderabadi Biryani has become a hot topic among Pakistani players and Indian journalists.

The event’s host, Ravi Shastri, asked Babar the same question, to which he responded, “We heard so much about Hyderabad’s biryani, it was good.”

Eoin Morgan, the captain of the team that won the 2019 World Cup, was also called to the platform and supported Buttler by calling him a superb captain.

The chance to represent his nation in a major competition stunned Rohit, who said: “I feel privileged that I will captain the Indian team at the World Cup. I’m not thinking back to times when the home team won the competition.

When asked about his team’s preparations, Cummins responded, “ODI format suits Australia more, we have won before, and we will try to continue our form.”

Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh, said that because the team is ready, we would attempt to live up to the expectations of our supporters.

Williamson, who will miss the Black Caps’ opening match of the tournament while he recovers from a knee injury, said he is prepared to captain his team.

2 Pakistani citizens were killed at the border by Afghanistan in “unprovoked firing”

Islamabad: The army reported that on Wednesday, an Afghan security officer used “unprovoked firing” at a busy border crossing, killing two Pakistani residents, among them a 12-year-old boy. The shooting incident was reported at the Chaman border point, also known as Friendship Gate, one of the two border crossings that people from Afghanistan use to enter and exit Pakistan, the other being Torkham in the northwest.
At 1600 hours, “an Afghan sentry employed at Friendship Gate” at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Balochistan, “opened unprovoked and indiscriminate firing at pedestrians” traveling from Pakistan to Afghanistan, according to the army.

2 Pakistani citizens were killed at the border by Afghanistan in “unprovoked firing”

At the departure gate, which is on the zero line, the incident took place.

To prevent collateral damage, it stated in a statement, “Own troops exercised extreme restraint and avoided any exchange of fire in the presence of innocent passengers.”

An injured youngster was being treated at the Chaman District Headquarters Hospital after being evacuated by security personnel, and the remains were moved there.

According to the statement, Afghan authorities have been contacted to find out why such a careless and dangerous act was committed as well as to apprehend and hand over the offender to Pakistani authorities.

The army added that in order to prevent similar situations from happening again in the future, the interim Afghan government needed to “exercise control over its troops and impart discipline to act responsibly.”

A senior citizen and a kid were murdered in the incident, according to interior minister Sarfaraz Bugti. Such incidents “are in no way acceptable,” he declared.

The event happened barely one day after Pakistan gave all unauthorized inhabitants until November 1 to leave the country or face forcible eviction. It was deemed “unacceptable” by the Afghan administration, who also requested that Pakistan reconsider it.

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have gotten worse recently because, according to Islamabad, the temporary Taliban government was unable to halt attacks by the terrorist Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan group across the border.

BLESSED: Israeli ambassadors offer a Jewish prayer for King Salman and MBS in Saudi Arabia

Israeli ambassadors held a Jewish prayer session in Saudi Arabia, a historic event that showed how the two countries’ ties are becoming more normalized.

Shlomo Karhi, the communications minister for Israel, attended the service during the Sukkot holiday when he was in Riyadh for a UN postal meeting. Three Jews who were not a part of Karhi’s delegation were present at the minyan-sized meeting that took place in his hotel.

Participants in the service could be seen clutching an etrog, palm, myrtle, and willow branches—symbols of the Sukkot holiday—and wearing traditional prayer shawls. Additionally, a local Jew brought a little Torah scroll for them to read from.

BLESSED: Israeli ambassadors offer a Jewish prayer for King Salman and MBS in Saudi Arabia

The scroll read “The Jewish Congregation, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” with a dedication in Hebrew to King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman, and his ministers and advisors. It also had inscriptions in Arabic, English, and Hebrew.

Orthodox Jew Minister Karhi traveled to Saudi Arabia to attend the Extraordinary Congress of the Universal Postal Union in 2023. Following the recent historic trip to the kingdom by Israeli Minister Haim Katz, this trip was made.

With the potential to change the Middle East landscape, these diplomatic exchanges represent a crucial step toward normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia, facilitated by the United States.

Karhi used the biblical account of Daniel’s exile in Babylon to illustrate the significance of this particular event. According to him, “Just as the windows in the house of Daniel were opened facing Jerusalem, so too in Riyadh we were able to pray with windows open facing Jerusalem.”

Representatives from the Communications Ministry, the Postal Service, and the Foreign Ministry were among the Israeli entourage that accompanied Karhi.

Karhi will speak at the conference and will concentrate on growth and peace. He will also meet with Michael Ratney, the US ambassador to Saudi Arabia, as well as other world leaders.

Karhi was also invited to Mohammed Saud’s Sukkah in Riyadh, who is a well-known admirer of Israel. Saudi Arabia is known to have a number of Jewish businesses despite the absence of an official local Jewish community.

This visit is seen by Karhi and his group as a modest but significant step toward fostering peace and collaboration between Israel and Saudi Arabia. Putting emphasis on the phrase “everything starts with small steps,” Minister David Bitan expressed hope for the region’s future growth.

These diplomatic discussions are in line with the US Biden administration’s attempts to mediate a peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel.

This extensive plan includes Saudi Arabia’s requests for an agreement on shared defense, arms deals, and Israeli accommodations for the Palestinians.

A basic structure has been constructed, but due to the intricacy of the arrangement, compromises are required from all stakeholders.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier stated that Israel and Saudi Arabia were close to reaching a historic agreement. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman reiterated this attitude and emphasized the significance of the Palestinian issue in the process of normalization. He also said that if Iran develops nuclear weapons, Saudi Arabia might too.

806x378 eu states try to seal migration deal 1696406235580

European Union nations sign an agreement on migration

On Wednesday, European Union member states reached a consensus on how to manage irregular migration during periods of particularly high arrivals, making a first step toward updating the bloc’s immigration and refugee policies ahead of a pan-European election in 2019.

After resolving the most recent dispute between Italy and Germany over charity ships that are picking up people in the sea as refugees and migrants from the Middle East and Africa attempt to cross the Mediterranean Sea for Europe, representatives of the bloc’s 27 member states struck the agreement on Wednesday.

European Union nations sign an agreement on migration

The European Parliament and the 27 countries will now continue their negotiations. Before the 450 million-person union has elections for the European Parliament in 2024, they want to have a functioning immigration system in place.

The conversations can now proceed, according to Maria Malmer Stenergard, minister of migration in Sweden. “The pact must be implemented as soon as possible to ensure security at the EU’s external borders and to stop migration flows.”

According to the deal, nations like Italy, which welcomes many migrants from the Mediterranean, might expedite the asylum process and request quick assistance from their EU counterparts, including financial aid and relocations.

Since more than a million people arrived on its beaches in 2015, shocking the EU and overwhelming first-country countries like Greece and Italy, the EU has been working to modernize its asylum system.

Italy reportedly consented to the deal after some references to the NGO operations were removed, according to diplomatic sources.

Poland and Hungary, who were adamantly opposed to accepting any visitors from the Middle East and Africa, were also reported as having refrained, along with their reluctant counterparts Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. The majority’s decision was accepted.

Before national leaders meet in Granada, Spain, on Thursday and Friday to discuss irregular migration in light of growing arrivals across the Mediterranean, notably on the Italian island of Lampedusa, Wednesday’s meeting was the final opportunity to reach an agreement.

Last week, a compromise between the EU’s migration ministers was thwarted by the dispute between Rome and Berlin. Many issues, such as when and how it will be implemented, are still out in the air following the provisional agreement on Wednesday.

Turkey hints at escalating its airstrikes in Syria and Iraq

After determining that militants who carried out a weekend attack in Ankara were from the nation, Turkey warned Wednesday that it would increase airstrikes against Kurdish sites in Syria and Iraq.

Turkey held a crucial national security meeting on Wednesday to plan its response to the attack on Sunday.

Turkey hints at escalating its airstrikes in Syria and Iraq

One of the attackers was shot dead by Turkish police, and the other was killed by an apparent suicide bombing outside the interior ministry.

In the event, two cops suffered injuries.

The first incident of this kind in Ankara since 2016 was blamed on a branch of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which Turkey and its Western allies have designated as a terrorist organization.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in television remarks that it was “clear that the two terrorists came from Syria and were trained there” as a consequence of the work of his security agencies.

“Our security forces now have legal targets in all infrastructure, major facilities, and energy facilities owned by (armed Kurdish groups) in Iraq and Syria.”

A few hours later, Turkey launched airstrikes against PKK targets in Iraq.

Thabet al-Abbasi, the defense minister of Iraq, will meet with Yasar Guler, his Turkish counterpart, in Ankara on Thursday, according to the official Anadolu news agency.

Fidan’s remarks imply that Turkey may step up drone and artillery operations in Syria, where Ankara has troops and backs organizations that fight the Kurds.

The Kurds of Syria have established a semi-autonomous region in the north and east of the nation.

In 2019, the struggle that drove Islamic State group fighters from the last slivers of their Syrian land was led by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the de facto army of the Kurds in the region.

However, Turkey sees the SDF’s dominant Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) as a PKK offshoot.

In addition to a number of violent incursions into Syria, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently promised to intensify his operations against the YPG.

Following a catastrophic flood in an Indian state, 23 Indian servicemen are missing

23 Indian soldiers vanished after a cloudburst on Wednesday caused a flash flood in the northern state of Sikkim, according to a defense spokesperson who spoke to Reuters.

The state capital of Gangtok, which is located close to the border with China, is 150 kilometers (93 miles) to the north of the valley where the flood occurred.

The spokesperson, who was headquartered in Guwahati, said that several military stations in the valley were affected and that efforts were being made to learn more about the circumstances.

The spokesperson located in the city of Guwahati stated that “some army establishments along the valley have been affected” and “efforts are on to confirm details.”

Following the release of water from a dam, some vehicles were submerged by rising water, the spokeswoman noted.

Under the condition of anonymity, an army official told Reuters that intermittent rain and thundershowers were impeding rescue efforts in the region.

The river was already about 4.5 meters (15 feet) higher than typical, according to the army, due to water released upstream from the Chungthang dam.

An Indian army official shared a video that showed a thick torrent of furious brown water sweeping down a densely forested valley, washing away roads and tearing down power wires.

The monsoon season, which starts in June and often ends by the end of September, is when flash floods frequently occur. The heaviest monsoon rains often end around October.

Experts claim that both their frequency and severity are rising because to climate change.

Prem Singh Tamang, the chief minister of Sikkim, was seen in local media talking to officials about flooding in the town of Singtam, which is further downstream from where the soldiers are missing, while holding an umbrella during a rainfall.

The monsoon occurs when the subcontinent is warmed by summer heat, forcing the air to rise and draw in cooler breezes from the Indian Ocean, which then generate copious amounts of rain.

However, it also brings yearly devastation in the form of floods and landslides.

Another case of polio has been recorded in Pakistan for 2023

Pakistan has announced the third occurrence of the poliovirus in 2023, which is alarming and calls into question the nation’s efforts to eradicate this debilitating illness.

The most recent case was discovered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Bannu district, the same area where the first two instances were discovered.

An unlucky one-and-a-half-year-old girl who lives in the Ghoda Baka Khel Union Council of the Bannu region is the most recent tragedy.

Additionally, the existence of the virus in the environment of the Bannu district was confirmed by the discovery of poliovirus in a sample of ambient material.

According to federal authorities, 34 of these environmental samples have so far tested positively for poliovirus in different regions of Pakistan.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has started a five-day anti-polio vaccination campaign to stop the spread of the disease.

In the entire nation, the program hopes to reach almost 44 million children.

At the PM House, Prime Minister Kakar personally launched the project by giving youngsters oral doses of vitamin A and the anti-polio vaccine.

Dr. Nadeem Jan, the interim health minister, and other top officials witnessed this effort being made.

Prime Minister Kakar praised the 350,000 polio workers who will be actively taking part in the immunization program during the launch. Because of their unrelenting dedication to making the anti-polio effort a success, he referred to them as the nation’s heroes. The ongoing fight against polio in Pakistan has received crucial assistance from international allies, as Prime Minister Kakar recently noted.

AI, according to Microsoft’s CEO, might only strengthen Google’s monopoly over search

What is beneficial to one is beneficial to another. Microsoft returned to the courtroom to testify in another antitrust action more than 20 years after being dubbed a monopoly in the tech sector. This time, though, the narrative has been reversed, and the Redmond behemoth is speaking out against fellow IT colossus Google’s hegemony in the search market.

In a case looking at whether the search engine giant unlawfully maintains near total control over online search, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently testified against Google. Everyone talks about the open web, but the reality is the Google web, according to Nadella, as reported by CNBC.

google vs microsoft

AI, according to Microsoft’s CEO, might only strengthen Google’s monopoly over search

In fact, he claimed that the use of artificial intelligence may make the Google web much more widespread. Google invested heavily in Anthropic and is incorporating AI into many of its products.

Nadella added, “I worry a lot that this vicious cycle I’m trapped in can become even more vicious,” adding that since Google has an unrivaled collection of web information, competing with it could “become even harder in the AI age.”

According to CNBC, the CEO claimed that making progress in search would be “even worse of a nightmare.” There’s a new route to close down: content, which essentially fuels the influence of these LLMs.

Even still, Microsoft is a significant participant in AI as it invests heavily in OpenAI, the company that developed the popular generative AI tool ChatGPT, and is integrating AI into both its own line of business products and its Bing search engine in an effort to attract more users.

Additionally, Microsoft is bringing its Bing with AI to Meta, which is making its own significant investments in AI.

Nadella asserts that Google took the lead and maintained it because it was the industry’s preferred search engine.

He argued that defaults determine user behavior and that the idea that users have a choice is entirely false. Users can switch, without a doubt, but they won’t because of defaults.

The CEO of Microsoft claimed that despite repeated efforts and significant financial expense, Apple has so far resisted his company’s offers to persuade it to change Safari’s default search engine from Google to Bing.

Nadella discussed the challenges that Google’s firmly established market dominance presents to rivals like Bing. He said that despite spending more than $100 billion on Bing over several years, Microsoft only holds a single-digit market share. The addition of AI did increase traffic, but it wasn’t enough to seriously threaten Google’s 90% market share.

A civil antitrust case has been brought against Google by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and attorneys general from many states for violating the Sherman Act and monopolizing digital advertising technologies. The action is a part of a larger investigation into Google’s hegemony in the digital economy.

There are also continuing investigations into other anti-competitive activities, including one into Google Maps, and the DOJ has accused Google of destroying internal corporate communications during the investigations.

The 50MP camera on the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is an enhancement over the model year’s top chipset

Is the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE truly that much better than the S21 FE from last year, even though Samsung has advanced two generations in just one year? No and yes. The CPU and camera have seen some significant improvements, but overall, it still falls short of the real S23 devices (or even something like the S22+).

Addressing the chipset, the proverbial “elephant in the room.” Typically reserved, Samsung simply states “Advanced 4nm Processing” in response to questions. We are aware of the either-or nature of the scenario; depending on where you live, you will either receive the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the Exynos 2200. Although not as remarkable as the 2023 phones’ “for Galaxy” CPUs, the Snapdragon 888/Exynos 2100 of the S21 FE is still a significant improvement.

gsmarena 012

The 50MP camera on the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is an enhancement over the model year’s top chipset

This year’s base configuration replaces the previous 6GB option with 8GB of RAM. More than 8GB is not allowed, although the S23 and S23+ have the same restriction. No extension slot, 128GB or 256GB of storage are available.

After we’ve covered it, we should talk about the updated main camera, which now has a 50MP sensor instead of the previous 12MP. The S23 FE still includes lower resolution ultrawide (10MP, 123°) and telephoto (8MP, 3x) cameras, so this does not imply that it is on par with the S23 or even the S22 phones. Additionally, the selfie camera’s resolution mysteriously drops to 10MP following two generations of 32MP sensors in the FE devices.

As anticipated, the display is a flat 6.4″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 60-120Hz.

The phone weighs 209g and has dimensions of 158 x 76.5 x 8.2mm. With dimensions of 155.7 x 74.5 x 7.9mm and a weight of 177g, it is bigger than the S21 FE. Pre-consumer aluminum, glass, and post-consumer plastic (obtained from used fishing nets, water barrels, and PET bottles) make up the phone’s body and interior components.

The Galaxy S23 FE follows other premium Samsung devices in terms of lifetime, receiving 4 OS updates and 5 years’ worth of security updates (note: the phone ships with Android 13/One UI 5.1 out of the box). The phone has an IP68 rating for water and dust protection, and you can sign up for Samsung Care+ for less expensive accidental damage repairs. Despite being larger than its predecessor, the battery capacity of this new model stays at 4,500mAh, and cable charging still stays at 25W (0-50% is completed in 30 minutes). Additionally, wireless charging is supported.

On October 5, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will be offered for $599. The base 8/128GB model costs 60,000 rupees in India, while the 256GB storage model costs 65,000 rupees (pre-orders begin tomorrow; the first shipments will take place on the 7th).

Bushra Bibi moves IHC to safeguard Imran

ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed the Registrar’s Office’s objections and scheduled the hearing of Bushra Bibi’s petition for security and protection for her husband, Imran Khan, in Adiala Jail, for tomorrow (Thursday).

Aamer Farooq, Chief Justice of the IHC, heard the petition and the Registrar’s Office’s objections. Bushra Bibi’s attorney, Latif Khosa Advocate, stated in court that Bushra Bibi, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was in danger of dying in custody.

Bushra Bibi moves IHC to safeguard Imran

The petition was fixed for hearing after the court overruled the Registrar’s Office’s objections. Additionally, the court agreed to Khosa’s request for the petition to be heard on Thursday, October 5.

Bushra stated her worry in the petition that the food her husband was eating in jail might be contaminated. She claimed that Imran was denied access to the home-cooked dinner, which used to be available to detainees awaiting trial.

She argued that any tainted food might endanger Imran’s life.

Additionally, according to Bushra, the PTI chairman was not receiving the facilities to which he was entitled under the Jail Manual. She later clarified that articles 9 and 14 of the Constitution were broken by “the inhumane treatment” given to her husband while he was imprisoned.

On September 26, Imran was transferred to the Adiala Jail by the IHC.

The other night, the police deployed elite commandos and added security pickets to the area surrounding the Adiala Jail to ensure maximum protection.

Later, Imran’s attorney Naeem Haider Panjutha revealed to media that Bushra had met the former prime minister on Tuesday at Adiala Jail and warned that Imran’s life was in danger.

“I worry Imran could progressively become food poisoned… He is being physically restrained and subjected to mental torture, the man claimed.

Panjutha claimed to have heard yesterday night that the PTI leader had been transferred to a lower-class cell. He asserted that these were brand-new techniques for “breaking” Imran: “Security personnel have been stationed outside the cell and mobile phones have been taken for them.”

Imran was detained in the Attock District Jail following his Toshakhana case conviction before being transferred to the Adiala Jail.

The IHC suspended his sentence last month, but he was caught in the cipher case shortly after. Inside the Attock jail, the cipher case trial was still in progress.

On Wednesday (today), the case would now be handled by the special court within the Adiala Jail. Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain of the special court had earlier sent a letter to the law ministry asking for its opinion on the trial that was taking on within the prison.

The judge stated that the matter might be handled in a special court under the Official Secrets Act if there were no security concerns over Imran’s protection. A request by the FIA for an in-camera hearing of the case would also be considered by the court.

Separately, the PTI chairman appealed the accountability court’s decision to deny his bail requests in the Toshakhana and £190 million corruption cases on August 10.

He claimed that his absence from court caused his bail requests to be denied. He said that because he was in custody on that day, he was unable to attend in court. He asked the court to reverse the accountability court’s rulings from August 10 and grant him temporary bail while his motions were being considered.

Despite the Registrar’s Office’s protests, both petitions were scheduled for hearings on Wednesday (today), over the objections of a division bench led by Chief Justice Farooq and Justice Babar Sattar.

sent to prison on judicial remand for Khawar Maneka

OKARA: According to report, a municipal court in Okara on Wednesday placed ex-husband of former first lady Bushra Bibi Khawar Maneka under a 14-day judicial remand in a corruption case.

Abrar Ali Khan, a senior civil judge, heard the case and denied the police’s request for an extension of Mankea’s physical detention.

On the grounds of a graveyard in Haveli Lakha, Khawar Maneka allegedly had a marriage hall and a few stores built “illegally.” An investigation into the deputy commissioner for Okara is currently being conducted.

On September 25, the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) detained Khawar Farid Maneka, the ex-husband of Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan, in Lahore on suspicion of engaging in illegal construction.

A representative for ACE confirmed Maneka’s arrest, stating that he was detained on suspicion of illegitimately erecting a wedding hall on cemetery property.

Maneka is a prominent customs official from Pakpattan and a spiritual follower of the mystic Baba Farid Ganj Shakkar from the thirteenth century.

Iranian girl in severe condition following suspected hijab confrontation, campaigners claim

Reuters, Oct. 4, 2018 – Two well-known human rights activists in Iran stated on Wednesday that a teenage girl was in critical condition in the hospital after slipping into a coma following what they claimed was an altercation with authorities on the Tehran subway for disobeying the hijab law.

The very sensitive nature of Armita Geravand’s case raises fears that the 16-year-old may share Mahsa Amini’s fate, a 22-year-old woman whose death in a coma while in the care of morality police last year provoked months of widespread outrage.

Iranian girl in severe condition following suspected hijab confrontation, campaigners claim

The Iranian-Kurdish rights group Hengaw published a photo showing Geravand asleep at a Tehran hospital where she was transported following the event, despite the fact that authorities have refuted assertions made by rights groups that she fell into a coma on Sunday after a clash with police who were enforcing the Islamic dress code.

A request for comment regarding the incident was not immediately met with a response from Iran’s interior ministry.

“We are paying great attention to her case. Her condition is critical and she is in the hospital’s intensive care unit. Her family reported that there are several people in plain clothing present at the facility, according to one of the Iranian activists.

The second activist claimed that security authorities had forbade Geravand’s parents from talking to human rights organizations or publicizing her photo on social media.

Due to the sensitivity of the subject, the campaigners spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Geravand was seen in CCTV footage shared on IRNA coming toward the train from the metro platform with two female acquaintances while without wearing the required hijab. One of the girls is seen backing up and grabbing for the ground as soon as she enters the cabin, and then passengers remove another girl out of the cabin while she is still unconscious.

The footage’s veracity could not immediately be confirmed by Reuters.

Masoud Dorosti, the CEO of the Tehran Metro Operating Company, told IRNA that there was no evidence of verbal or physical altercation between customers and business personnel in the CCTV tape.

When an Iranian journalist visited the hospital on Monday to learn more about Geravand’s condition, she was temporarily detained, according to Iranian media.

Iranian rights group Dadban posted on social media that “Iranian security institutions have said her condition was caused by low pressure, an oft-repeated scenario from such institutions.”

Her parents claimed that their daughter had experienced a dip in blood pressure, lost her balance, and hit her head inside the metro cabin in a video that was posted on the state news agency IRNA.

Although I’m unsure, her mother added, “I believe they have stated that my daughter’s pressure dropped.” She did, however, add that stirring up a fight would be pointless.

Rights organizations have urged police to release the video taken inside the cabin on social media, arguing that her parents’ statement was made under duress.

On social media platform X, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock posted: “Another young Iranian woman is struggling for her life. the sole reason that she exposed her hair in the train. It’s intolerable. The parents of #ArmitaGarawand have the right to be by their daughter’s bedside but do not belong in front of cameras.

The court will hear Imran Khan’s bail request in the cipher case in public

The Islamabad High Court decided that the cipher case bail plea hearing for PTI Chairman Imran Khan would take place in public.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had requested an in-camera hearing of the matter, which the court denied.

According to the ruling, any documents that have to be given in secret would be taken into account after consultation between attorneys.

The court will hear Imran Khan’s bail request in the cipher case in public

The FIA prosecutor had insisted that hearings take place behind closed doors without the presence of the public. The trial was being held in a jail, according to the court, therefore the public was already abstaining.

On October 9 at 2:00 PM, the bail application for the PTI chairman will be considered.

Cipher lawsuit was delayed
In the morning of Wednesday, the PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi appeared before the Special Court under the Official Secrets Act for the first time in the cipher matter.

Imran Khan’s attorneys asked the judge to halt the case’s progress, but Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqernain rejected their motion and postponed the hearing until October 9.

The PTI leader’s attorneys, according to information provided to the court, have contested the jail trial and the case’s closed-door hearings at the Islamabad High Court.

At the following hearing, copies of the investigation report will be given to the suspects.

Imran Khan’s attorneys submitted a miscellaneous petition on Wednesday during the hearing in order to stop the trial. They argued that the Islamabad High Court had postponed making a decision on the petitions challenging the jail trial and the case’s closed-door processes.

On the eve of the 23rd ODI World Cup, pacers from India and Australia are tied for first place

After Siraj lost 11 points during the third ODI of the most recent series between Australia and India, the two fast bowlers are tied with Hazlewood on 669 ranking points.

As Australia piled up 352/7 for a much-needed victory, Siraj, who was back in the India lineup for the third ODI, paid the price in the rankings for surrendering 68 runs from nine overs.

After taking 2/42 in eight overs against India in the same ODI, Hazlewood’s ranking points stayed the same at 669.

When India and Australia play each other in the World Cup opener on October 8, the pacers will have the chance to stake out the top spot in the rankings.

The next best ODI bowling duo is the pair of Afghan spin twins Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who is in third with 657 ranking points, and Rashid Khan, who is in fourth with 655.

Shaheen Afridi (632) moved up two spots to sixth place among the top ODI bowlers, trading places with Mitchell Starc (628), who fell to eighth.

On October 20, Pakistan and Australia will face battle in a thrilling match of left-arm strike bowlers at the World Cup.

The ODI bowling rankings also saw a positional change between Mohammad Nabi (621) and Kuldeep Yadav (616) with the Afghanistan off-spinner moving up one spot and into the top-10.

On the accustomed spin-friendly Indian decks, Kuldeep will have the chance to restore his top-10 standing.

Following three consecutive fifty-plus scores in India, experienced Australian David Warner has made a significant jump within the top-10 of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings.

Warner has improved two spots to tie for fourth with Harry Tector of Ireland on 729 ranking points thanks to his strong play, which included 56 runs off 34 balls in the third ODI.

Imam-ul-Haq (728) drops one spot to fifth, but Pakistani captain Babar Azam (857 ranking points) maintains his lead over Shubman Gill (839) and Rassie van der Dussen (743).

The top-10 players in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI All-rounder Rankings have not changed, with Bangladeshi mainstay Shakib Al Hasan remaining holding the top spot with 349 ranking points versus Nabi’s 302 ranking points.

Glenn Maxwell, though, hangs large over both the all-rounder rankings and Australia’s World Cup prospects, as the star immediately made a mark upon his return to the team following injury.

As he moved up ten spots to 11th in the all-rounder rankings, Maxwell reminded India of the threat he may pose in their World Cup opener with the off-spinner taking 4/40 in the third ODI between the countries.

The ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 gets underway in India on October 5, bringing the supporters’ long-awaited moment to a close.

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the tournament’s opening match between the defending champions England and last year’s runner-up New Zealand, as well as the championship match. The major event will feature 10 teams competing for the coveted trophy over 10 cities through November 19.

What makes the World Cup’s opening match this year unique?

The hosts will not, however, be participating in the opening game of the World Cup for just the third time ever.

The first time it occurred was in 1979, when West Indies played India in place of England, the tournament’s hosts.

The second time this occurred was in 1996, when India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka jointly hosted the World Cup. The opening match that year was played in Ahmedabad between England and New Zealand.

The entire World Cup will be staged in one nation for the first time in 2023, with India taking on the duty of hosting the teams at 10 different locations.

However, because they are the only team to play in nine separate venues, the Blues will be the ones to endure from the most demanding travel schedule.

Back in 1975, when the first World Cup ever held in human history was played. The competition was held in England, with the home team against India in the opening match.

The 1983 World Cup was likewise held in England, and it began with a match between the home team and New Zealand.

Pakistan and India co-hosted the 1987 World Cup, the first time it was contested in a 50-over format, with the former hosting the event’s opening match against Sri Lanka.

The opening match of the 1992 World Cup featured the joint hosts, Australia and New Zealand, going up against one another. The 2015 World Cup was held in the two nations, where the Black Caps faced Sri Lanka in the opening round.

England faced the Islanders in the opening match of the 1999 World Cup, which the UK and the Netherlands jointly hosted.

The 2003 World Cup was held in South Africa, Kenya, and Zimbabwe, with West Indies playing the Proteas in the tournament’s first match.

West Indies hosted the entire 2007 World Cup, and they were matched up against Pakistan in the opening game.

The 2011 World Cup was co-hosted by Sri Lanka, India, and Bangladesh, with the latter two participating in the opening match.

England and Wales co-hosted the 2019 World Cup, with the former hosting the tournament’s opening match against South Africa.

Australia captain Pat Cummins said:

It’s not often that you feel like half the world is watching an event, but everytime India plays Pakistan in a World Cup, according to Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins. It appears to be one of those times. Even though you aren’t physically participating, you still feel compelled to watch and listen to all the chatter and excitement around the game. So, the fact that it will be held at this stadium is fantastic. More than 100,000 persons are possible.

India captain Rohit Sharma said:

“I have said it from the start, you know, every leader sitting here wants to achieve something really special for their country,” India captain Rohit Sharma said. The 50-Over World Cup is something that is extremely highly valued; as a child, I always imagined competing in it, and I’m sure that all the men in this room also did. One thing I can guarantee—and I’m quite sure everyone already knows this—is that people will enjoy this event here. The stadium will be full with spectators because people in India love cricket just as much as they love their team. However, rest assured that it will be a great tournament.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam said:

“We received good hospitality, and we were not expecting this, but I think the way people responded to us, everyone enjoyed it,” Pakistani captain Babar Azam remarked. We have been in Hyderabad for a week, so we don’t feel like we are in India; rather, it feels like home. We appreciated it and had a great time. It’s good, and I believe that everyone has a fantastic opportunity to give their all and enjoy the competition.

England captain Jos Buttler said:

The team has been primarily together since 2015, the beginning of the revolution you stated, and I believe you continued to say that during the game, according to England captain Jos Buttler. Young players in England today play a specific way and are committed to maintaining the style, and I believe we all understand that this provides us the best chance of success. Even though we are aware that we will occasionally make mistakes, we have learned to accept this and will keep trying to improve and push the envelope. We always want to try and be at the forefront of that curve as well because other teams will push you and advance it farther.

Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi said:

Hashmatullah Shahidi, the captain of Afghanistan, stated: “As previously stated, we will have a larger crowd and more support, and we anticipate the same of the people who come there and support us in the stadium. Additionally, we have spinners of very high caliber, and the weather is favorable for us, so they will be with us along with the batting. I think we’ll prove to the world that we can bat and play cricket extremely well during this World Cup.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan said:

Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh, said: “I believe we have prepared properly. We are most likely the third or fourth team in the qualifying point system if we consider the four years since the 2019 World Cup. We’ve done incredibly well as a team, so it’s time for us to deliver a strong performance. The nation is expecting a little bit more from us than what we did previously, but our team is prepared.

Netherlands captain Scott Edwards said:

Scott Edwards, the captain of the Netherlands, said: “I believe that every game in this competition will be challenging. However, Pakistan is undoubtedly a very strong team. However, we’re merely eager to start this competition for ourselves. That is in Hyderabad against Pakistan.

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said:

Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa, said, “I believe that is something that is pertinent to all the teams. I wouldn’t really say it’s an advantage for us because many of the opposing clubs have players who have excelled in India and played there. All we could do, in my opinion, is ask the men who possess that expertise and knowledge to share it with the team or apply it to our goals and plans. However, I wouldn’t claim that it is a benefit that is specific to our team.

Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka said:

“See, exciting times for us,” remarked Dasun Shanaka, the captain of Sri Lanka. Injuries have caused us a lot of trouble lately, but we also have some solid records to our credit. You already know that we are all excited for the World Cup. Everyone wants to convey the message that they are here to compete successfully in this competition.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson:

“As you mentioned, you come to another event, and everyone certainly starts from square one and starts again. You go from tournament to tournament, teams change, and opposition conditions change,” said New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. For us, concentrating on the type of cricket we want to continue playing gives us the best chance of performing at our peak. We have participated in a number of tournaments, and while they have all been entertaining and full of diverse challenges, we are really looking forward to the difficulties that this one will present. And the distinction is that, in contrast to other competitions, it will bring with it a memorable moment in India. Simply put, there are so many people who love and support sports. Therefore, we simply look forward to participating.

Fans can experience the thrill of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 right in their living rooms by watching the panel discussion with the 10 captains on the Star Sports network starting at 19:00 IST today evening.

Conjunctivitis-infected employees won’t be permitted in the ECP office.

On Wednesday, the Pakistani Election Commission (ECP) decided to forbid employees with conjunctivitis from entering the workplace.

The electoral watchdog has published a circular on this topic as the fear of pink eye (conjunctivitis) spreads across the nation. The ECP advised against the conjunctivitis-infected individuals reporting to work until they had fully recovered from the infection.

”The infected employee will have to provide the health certificate after recuperating from the eye disease,” the election watchdog insisted. Without a health certificate, no recovered person will be able to visit the ECP office.

Interim Health Minister Nadeem Jan stated in Islamabad: “The latest pink eye outbreak was caused by Coxsackievirus A24 in Pakistan. A small outbreak of this virus has occurred in several places of the world.

He advised the populace to not worry about the emergence of pink eye, but he also stressed the urgent need for preventative steps to stop the virus.

To avoid contracting the pink eye infection, Mr. Jan advised the public to abide by the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the federal and provincial governments.

The administration is making every effort to protect the populace from the outbreak, Mr. Jan continued.

David Beckham and Victoria speak about the football player’s alleged liaison with an assistant in 2003 and recall a “stupid mistake” made during the 1998 World Cup.

The four-part Netflix documentary Beckham, on the football player David Beckham, provides a thorough picture of his illustrious and contentious life, both personally and professionally. The former British football player and his wife, Victoria Beckham, a former Spice Girl, discuss his alleged love affair with Rebecca Loos in 2003 in the series. Beckham also discusses his battle with serious depression following his single-handed responsibility for England’s defeat versus Argentina in a vital match at the 1998 Football World Cup.

Rebecca Loos asserted in 2003 that she and Beckham dated for four months while he was already Victoria’s husband. The accusation was then brushed aside by Beckham as “ludicrous”. In the documentary series, Victoria refers to it as the “hardest time” of her marriage since, in addition to the “against them” world, they were also “against” each other.

It was the hardest time for us because it felt like everyone was against us, Victoria stated in the documentary series. And let me tell you something, if I’m being absolutely honest, we were at odds with one another. Up until Madrid, it occasionally felt like it was just us versus everyone else, but we were all connected, and we had each other. However, we didn’t really feel like we had each other when we were in Spain either. That’s a shame. I simply cannot express how difficult it was. And how I was impacted by it. She went on to describe that time in her life as a “nightmare” and “an absolute circus”.

Inadvertently revealed names of alleged Nobel chemistry prize recipients

Reuters, STOCKHOLM, Oct. 4 – The names of three scientists who it said had received this year’s Nobel Prize in chemistry appear to have been accidentally published by Sweden’s Royal Academy of Sciences, despite the fact that the award-giving organisation claimed the decision was still hours away.

A copy of an email that the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet said came from the academy and listed the laureates as Moungi G. Bawendi, Louis E. Brus, and Alexei I. Ekimov was published.

An email from the Nobel Foundation stated that the development of quantum dots, which are nanoparticles whose size affects their properties, will be honoured with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2023, according to Dagens Nyheter (DN), another Swedish newspaper.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences made a mistake, according to Johan Aqvist, chair of the academy’s chemistry Nobel committee, who spoke to Reuters. No decision has been reached as of yet; our meeting begins at 9:30 CET (7:30 GMT). The winners are still to be chosen.

At 11:45 CET (09:45 GMT), the 2014 Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be announced.

According to the statement, nanoparticles and quantum dots are employed in LED lighting and TV displays and can also be used to direct surgeons as they remove cancerous tissue, among other things.

More than 1,000 people die in Bangladesh’s worst dengue outbreak on record.

More than 1,000 people have died from dengue in Bangladesh’s worst epidemic on record since the year’s beginning, marking a sombre turning point in the spread of the mosquito-borne disease, which experts have warned could get worse due to the effects of climate change.

According to government figures released on Tuesday, at least 1,030 people have died and more than 210,000 have become infected in Bangladesh since the start of the year, placing a burden on the country’s already precarious healthcare system and forcing officials to scramble to stop the spread. More than 100 kids under the age of 16 are among the deceased. Just 281 dengue deaths were reported throughout the nation for the entire year.

The World Health Organisation reports that between 2000 and 2022, the number of dengue cases that have been reported globally increased eight-fold.

Around half of the world’s population is now at danger of infection, according to Raman Velayudhan, who oversees the WHO’s programme for the control of neglected tropical diseases. About 70% of all diseases in the world originate in Asia.

Dengue is most frequently seen in tropical and subtropical settings and is mostly transmitted by the Aedes type of mosquito, which can also transmit the Zika and chikungunya viruses. According to the WHO, greater temperatures and the rainy season (May to September) have historically been associated with dengue cases in Bangladesh.

The majority of persons who contract the virus won’t show any symptoms, but those who do frequently complain of a high fever, headaches, nausea, body aches, and/or a rash. Rarely, dengue can be fatal, and people who have already been infected twice are more susceptible to “severe dengue.” According to the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, untreated patients’ mortality rates might reach up to 13%.
