Shehbaz, who is more pragmatic than his brother, changes the PML-N’s position

ISLAMABAD: Shehbaz Sharif, the president of the PML-N, and other like-minded party figures have not only changed the party’s anti-establishment narrative but also audaciously rejected the traditional wisdom that winning the polls depended heavily on popular opinion.

The PML-N president, who is renowned for his tenacity, has finally been able to divert his party’s ire away from the retired top brass of the armed forces, particularly former army chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa and ex-spymaster Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed. This comes just days after the PML-N decided to abandon its anti-establishment stance.

The party, which made sure that Gen. Bajwa, the then-army leader, granted an extension in service, had subsequently spoken out against the judges and generals, whom it claimed were accountable for the PTI’s victory.

Since adopting a new narrative that the party’s leader, former premier Nawaz Sharif, had left everything to God, as if it had the choice not to do so, the PML-N has chosen to refrain from attacking them recently.

Political analyst Zaigham Khan observed, “The establishment is permanent; the establishment is not just the names of the officers, particularly the retired [ones].” “Keeping the selected retired military officials at gunpoint doesn’t make one anti-establishment,” he continued.

According to the political expert, Nawaz was attempting to portray some retired military officials, such as Bajwa and Faiz, as “so-called” members of the establishment.

Nawaz should not “adopt an anti-establishment stance,” it says.

“They [Bajwa and Faiz] are just retired military officials; they are not the establishment. When they were serving, they were a part of the business, but they are no more, he said.

The political expert claimed that the PML-N had not only changed its story, but that its contradictions were also obvious.

Zaigham further, saying that the PML-N passed legislation to extend Gen. Bajwa’s tenure after holding him responsible for the party’s problems. He continued by saying that the action had made all future army chiefs eligible for extension.

If the PML-N had adopted a position opposing the current one, it might have received credit for being anti-establishment. However, the PTI is presently receiving those points, the political expert pointed out.

Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, president of the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT), disagreed with Zaigham and claimed that the PML-N did have a strong anti-establishment message. Nawaz Sharif is the only premier who repeatedly (twice) attempted to impose his authority as the prime minister, according to more than just a narrative.

During background discussions, a PML-N leader, requesting not to be named, said from PML-N’s anti-establishment narrative starting from Gujranwala rally in 2020 to becoming the country’s prime minister in 2022 and from granting the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) the status of a Special Vetting Agency (SVA) to ratifying the army’s role in national development, it was Shehbaz who never had any confusion where he wanted to take his party.

“His [Shehbaz’s] narrative has finally prevailed,” the party leader added.

The PML-N leader said it now appeared that the “anti-Bajwa and Faiz” narrative was nothing but a “hoax” as it was used repeatedly to sway public opinion in the party’s favour — firstly, because the then premier Imran Khan’s government was smoothly sailing on the same page with the powerful circles and secondly, when the PTI chief adopted an anti-establishment stance and buried his rival’s “sanctity of vote “slogan with it.

However, he added, Imran had his own weaknesses as he would speak against the establishment during the day but beg them to stand by his side at night — a fact revealed by none other than the current ISI DG, Lt-Gen Nadeem Anjum, during his maiden press conference almost a year ago.

Just a few days ago, Nawaz singled out former army chief and top spymaster as the “enemies of Pakistan” but now decided to look the other way instead of demanding justice against the alleged conspirators of his ouster in 2017 as apparently his party, especially Shehbaz, did want any confrontation with the powers that be.

Even during his time in the PM Office, Shehbaz replaced the IB with the ISI as he had granted SVA status to the spy agency, empowering it to complete the verification and screening of all government officers for inductions, important postings, appointments and promotions in June 2022.

In July 2023, the Shehbaz-led government gave vast powers to the military beyond its original mandate through a series of amendments to the Pakistan Army Act, 1952, legitimising the GHQ’s role in carrying out activities otherwise considered the prerogative of the civilian authorities.

Apart from increasing the army’s mandate, the bill moved by then Defence Minister Khawaja Asif provided legal cover to the military’s unbridled activities in the economic domain under the ‘welfare through affiliated entities’ clause.

The PML-N-led government not just enhanced army’s role but retrospectively gave legal cover to it and its affiliated entities in their past activities.

Besides, Shehbaz’s coalition government also earned the reputation of turning the highest legislative forum as a “rubberstamp parliament” as dozens of bills were passed without even reading or debating on them during the last few days of previous government.

Among them was a bill – now a law – through which the federal government established a Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) — a hybrid civil-military forum, which the government set up to actualise the Economic Revival Plan, claimed to be a bigger financial project than the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Initially, the SIFC was thought to be a forum to attract investment from abroad but it reportedly has now been given mandate to decide domestic economic issues as well.

It is also no secret that the PML-N leadership did not utter a single word during its 16-month rule but suddenly woke up from slumber to demand accountability of the former judges and generals.

However, Shehbaz seems to have the PML-N tuck in bed again and so far has the last laugh as the party will now be focusing on the country’s  economic revival.

Pakistani satellite to travel on next Chinese lunar mission

Chinas Change 3 To Land On Moon In 2013

Pakistani satellite to travel on next Chinese lunar mission

The Cheng E6 lunar mission, scheduled to launch in the first half of 2024, is being prepared by China. The fact that a Pakistani satellite was carried on this trip adds to its notoriety.

The Cheng E6 mission is on schedule to reach the moon, according to a recent Weibo announcement from the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

By transporting payloads from other nations, including Pakistan, the European Space Agency (ESA), France, and Italy, this mission is also fostering international cooperation.

French equipment will be utilised to test for radioactive gas as part of the scientific equipment onboard Cheng E6.

Along for the lunar journey will be the Negative Ion Detector from the European Space Agency and the Valle Brett Radar System from Italy.

The Pakistani CubeSat spacecraft, which will be sent into lunar orbit, is very noteworthy.

Before making a victorious return to Earth, Cheng E6 is prepared to investigate the moon’s dark side and gather samples from its surface.

In contrast to earlier missions that only collected samples from the moon’s near surface, this mission will be notable for being the first to ever retrieve samples from the moon’s dark side.

This mission’s main objective is to collect samples from diverse lunar locations in order to shed light on the moon’s age and geological past.

Shadab Khan of Pakistan claims that the World Cup has to have a potent bowling attack.

maxresdefault

Shadab Khan of Pakistan claims that the World Cup has to have a potent bowling attack.

In order to have any chance of winning the World Cup, according to Pakistan vice-captain Shadab Khan, a team will need a strong bowling assault.

Despite the loss of teenage speedster Naseem Shah by the Men in Green in the run-up to the competition, Shadab thinks Pakistan still has enough firepower in their arsenal to contend for the championship.

“The team with a strong bowling attack will take the championship. Picking wickets and keeping batsmen in check are challenging under these circumstances. The side that bowls the best will win the competition because the wickets are flat and the boundaries are small here. We have elite bowlers as well, and if we perform well, we may win the competition, said Shadab at a news conference on Sunday.

Hasan Ali, Naseem’s replacement, is a skilled campaigner as well as Mohammad Wasim Jr., who can frequently fire the speed gun.

But Pakistan’s spin bowling unit, which struggled to take wickets in the middle overs of the Asia Cup even in subcontinental conditions, is a huge concern going into the competition. In five games, Shadab took six wickets at an average of 40.83.

“Recently, my form hasn’t been great. A player has mental distress as a result of subpar performance. But now that I’ve had some time to rest, I can focus on getting ready for the World Cup, the leggings stated.

Despite not playing in every game, he is a significant and influential player. These kind of players are inconsistent. His three tonnes this year were produced for a good reason. Every team would want to have a player of his calibre. We need to allow him some mental distance. Like Fakhar, we don’t have as many significant players. These players would always receive support. The squad succeeds when he plays well in pivotal contests, Shadab stated.

In addition, Shadab praised fellow wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who recently claimed five wickets against Pakistan. He also praised India captain Rohit Sharma as an Indian batsman he enjoys seeing.

Turkish Airstrikes In Northern Iraq “Destroyed 20 Targets” Following Ankara Blast

Ankara, Turkey:

Turkish jets launched air strikes inside Iraqi Kurdistan late Sunday, after a blast earlier the same day injured two police officers near the parliament building in Ankara.

In the hours following the bombing, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had already vowed that “terrorists” would never achieve their aims.

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), listed as a terror group by Turkey and its Western allies, claimed responsibility for the blast. It has waged a deadly insurgency against Ankara for four decades.

The Turkish parliament, which resumed as scheduled in the afternoon with an address from Erdogan, is located in the district that was the target of the explosion, along with numerous other ministries.

“The villains who threaten the tranquilly and safety of the people have not and will never succeed in achieving their goals,” Erdogan remarked.

The interior ministry reported that two assailants carried out a bomb attack in front of “the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of our Ministry of the Interior” at around 9:30 am (0630 GMT).

Ali Yerlikaya, the interior minister, told reporters outside the ministry that one of the terrorists detonated himself. The other was shot in the head and killed before he could blow himself up.

Although two police officers were slightly hurt during the gunfire exchange, their lives were not in danger, he continued.

The prosecutor’s office in Ankara announced that it had started an inquiry and restricted access to the area. It was requested that local media stop showing footage from the attack.

strikes in North Iraq
The PKK claimed that “a sacrificial action was carried out against the Turkish Interior Ministry” in a statement to the Kurdish movement’s affiliated ANF news agency.

An official in Iraqi Kurdistan claimed on Sunday night that Turkish army planes had been attacking the Bradost region and the village of Badran.

The PKK was “neutralised” in northern Iraq, according to the Turkish military ministry.

According to the ministry, “20 targets used by terrorists” had been destroyed.

Erdogan again criticised the European Union in his opening remarks for delaying Turkey’s application for membership, saying that Turkey “no longer expects anything from the European Union, which has kept us waiting at its door for 40 years.”

He continued, “We have kept all the promises we have made to the EU but they have kept almost none of theirs,” and he would not “tolerate any new demands or conditions” for his nation to join the organisation.

NATO bid from Sweden
Sweden’s admission to the NATO alliance must also be approved at this session of Turkey’s parliament.

Despite lifting their vetoes in July, Turkey and Hungary have been slow to ratify Sweden’s participation in the Atlantic alliance.

Erdogan stated in July that the Turkish parliament would not ratify the agreement until after October, but it is anticipated that it would be passed this legislative year.

Erdogan has been pressing Sweden to act against Koran desecrations that have soured relations between the two nations for months.

Ulf Kristersson, the prime minister of Sweden, quickly vowed in a statement that his nation “again confirms its commitment to long-term cooperation with Turkey in the fight against terrorism.”

A Stunning Light Show from a Strong Protostellar Jet is Captured by Hubble

xkCJGaJJAbEkNTeXsmwueA 320 80
Nestled amongst the vast clouds of star-forming regions like this one lie potential clues about the formation of our own Solar System.  This week’s NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope Picture of the Week features AFGL 5180, a beautiful stellar nursery located in the constellation of Gemini (The Twins).  At the centre of the image, a massive star is forming and blasting cavities through the clouds with a pair of powerful jets, extending to the top right and bottom left of the image. Light from this star is mostly escaping and reaching us by illuminating these cavities, like a lighthouse piercing through the storm clouds. Stars are born in dusty environments and although this dust makes for spectacular images, it can prevent astronomers from seeing stars embedded in it. Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instrument is designed to capture detailed images in both visible and infrared light, meaning that the young stars hidden in vast star-forming regions like AFGL 5180 can be seen much more clearly.

A Stunning Light Show from a Strong Protostellar Jet is Captured by Hubble

The Hubble Space Telescope captured this breath-taking image of the region known as G35.2-0.7N, which is a hotspot for high-mass star formation. Because the stars that originate in this region are so massive, they will eventually explode as obliterating supernovae. But even as they develop, they have a big impact on their environment. The region shown here contains at least one B-type star, the second most massive type, and the magnificent light show is being produced by a strong protostellar jet that it is blasting towards us.

This image, which was taken with the Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) placed on the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, shows the region G35.2-0.7N in the constellation Aquila, which is located roughly 7200 light-years away from Earth.

Like many of the Hubble Pictures of the Week, this stunning image was created utilising information that was primarily gathered for very particular study goals. Measuring the level of ionisation in the jets being blasted out of the protostar buried beneath G35.2-0.7N was part of the research done using this data. Ionisation is the process by which atoms or molecules acquire charge. This is frequently the result of the electrons—the minuscule negatively charged particles that circle the nuclei in atoms and molecules—that have been lost as a result of the environment’s extreme energy.

Large collimated beams of matter are emitted from protostars in the form of protostellar jets. Collimated is just a fancy way of saying that the material is ejected in parallel (column-like) streams, which means that the jets do not spread.

The magnificent show you can see in this picture is the visual effect of the expelled materials. With light being obstructed from Hubble’s perspective by the dense dust clouds that give birth to these huge stars, the nebula appears largely dark.

The star and the material jet it is generating are seen relatively close to the centre. A hole in the dust created by the jet’s force as it streams towards us can be seen there as a short, bright orange streak. The protostar’s light is revealed by the jet when it emerges from its dusty cocoon, but because of the remaining dust, the light is “reddened” to a flaming orange. At the extreme leftmost tip of this hole, the enormous protostar is located.

Regular checkups, a healthy lifestyle, and daily exercise help lower the risk of heart-related problems. Expert

ISLAMABAD, 1 October (APP) In order to prevent heart-related deaths, a health expert urged the public on Sunday to embrace a healthy lifestyle that includes daily exercise, routine heart exams, and controlling their weight. This is because the incidence of coronary artery disease (CAD), which includes Pakistan, is disturbingly on the rise worldwide.

Major General (R) Azhar Mehmood Kayani, a leading cardiologist, told the public in an interview with PTV that living a healthy lifestyle will lower the risk of heart-related mortality and encouraged them to frequently have a full heart examination to prevent potential heart attacks. He called for greater public knowledge of cardiovascular illness and ways to prevent it, stating that inactivity and a lack of outdoor activities are the main causes of heart disease.

He advised people to lead a healthy lifestyle and engage in exercise to keep cardiac problems at bay. Dr. Kiyani emphasised the urgent need to treat cardiac disorders seriously and work towards their prevention, noting that diabetes, hypertension, smoking, and a sedentary lifestyle were significant contributors to heart attacks. He said that the number of young Pakistani men with cardiovascular illness was increasing, and that an alarming number of persons under the age of 40 were increasingly being treated for heart attacks in the emergency rooms of cardiac health centres.

Due to sedentary lifestyles and other risk factors, a lot of people in Karachi and the rest of the country between the ages of 25 and 40 are now experiencing heart attacks, he noted. In addition to genetic predispositions, he stated that significant risk factors for heart attacks were smoking, obesity, inactivity, poor diet, including the fast food and very fatty foods popular in Pakistan, and smoking. “Obesity is the mother of most diseases, giving rise to hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases,” he highlighted. According to him, CVDs have been reported in high-, middle-, and low-income nations, and low- and middle-income nations lack the necessary healthcare resources to address the disease burden. In response to a question, he stated that heart disease is the main cause of fatalities.

Pakistan will participate in China’s historic moon mission using a small satellite.

In 2025, Pakistan will make history when it works with China to launch its first small satellite to the moon. As a part of China’s Chang’e-6 lunar sample return mission, the satellite known as ICECUBE-Q will travel to the far side of the moon. It may have an impact on future exploration and habitation if the satellite finds and measures ice traces on the lunar surface.

Since 1990, when China launched Pakistan’s first communication satellite, China and Pakistan have worked together in space. Two more satellites, one for optical remote sensing and the other for observation, were launched by Pakistan with assistance from China in 2018. An agreement on space exploration was struck in 2019 by the two nations, ushering in a new stage in their relationship.

Following the successful Chang’e-5 mission in 2020, which retrieved nearly 2 kg of material from the near side of the moon, Chang’e-6 is China’s second lunar sample return mission. Chang’e-6 will make the first-ever effort to gather 2 kg of material from the far side of the moon. Additionally, the flight will transport cargo from Sweden, Italy, and France.

China will launch Queqiao-2, a new relay satellite, in 2024 in order to communicate with the far side of the moon. Data transmission between the lander, the orbiter, and the Earth will be possible thanks to the relay satellite. The mission is anticipated to begin in May 2024 and end in roughly 53 days.

China’s ambitious goal to explore and utilise the moon’s resources includes a lunar expedition. In the coming years, China also intends to launch the Chang’e-7 and Chang’e-8 missions, which will perform extensive surveys and experiments on the lunar south pole. By 2030, China wants to build a robotic research facility close to the lunar south pole and eventually deploy people to the moon.

Shah Rukh Khan’s most recent films, according to Vivek Agnihotri, are quite superficial: “I believe it to be sycophancy,

Without mentioning the titles of the films, Vivek Agnihotri stated that he thought Shah Rukh Khan’s most recent productions, Jawan and Pathaan, were merely surface-level.

Without mentioning Jawan or Pathan by name, Vivek Agnihotri expressed his opinions about Shah Rukh Khan’s most recent flicks in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. “I believe his most recent films are very superficial,” he said. He is capable of much more than that. “Han jo bhi aai hai unke films” refers to current releases. Those I’ve watched struck me as being really shallow. They are acceptable as action films, but I disagree that they should be used as a benchmark for filmmaking and that this marks the end of the entertainment industry. I then believe it to be sycophancy. I find that to be problematic. He further stated that Shah Rukh’s supporters had previously harassed him on social media.

Jawan, a movie starring Shah Rukh Khan, debuted on September 7 and quickly became a hit. With the movie currently in its third week, fresh films like Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War are facing heavy competition. At the domestic box office, it has so far made slightly over 3 crore. On September 28, it was made available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Earlier, Vivek had lauded Jawan.

When a commenter earlier asked The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri to “clash with SRK if you have guts,” Agnihotri replied, “We aren’t in Bollywood game and terminology like ‘clash’ etc. are for celebs and media. Jawan, starring SRK, will undoubtedly be a classic hit. But after you see that, please watch our short film about India’s biggest win in a conflict you aren’t familiar with. #TheVaccineWar.” Vivek responded to the Jawan trailer as well and gushed about it on his X account. “Adbhut (amazing). Mind blowing. It has the word “Blockbuster” all over it, he said.

The attacks took place hours after a suicide bomber injured two police officers in Ankara when he detonated an explosive device close to the entrance of the interior ministry building. During a shootout with the police, a second attacker was slain.

According to a PKK-affiliated news source, the group took credit for the suicide strike.

The PKK planned the bombing to occur on the day the parliament convened, according to a statement from the ANF news agency. It claimed that “a team of ours linked to our Immortals Battalion” group was responsible for the attack.

Turkey, the US, and the EU have all recognised the PKK as a terrorist organisation.

The two assailants had taken the car from a veterinarian in Kayseri, a city 260 kilometres (161 miles) southeast of Ankara, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.

CCTV footage revealed a vehicle approaching the main gate of the interior ministry, with one of its occupants hurriedly approaching the structure before being enveloped in an explosion, while the other remained outside.

The interior minister described the incident that shook a key neighbourhood that is home to ministerial buildings and close to parliament as having left one of the attackers dead and authorities “neutralising,” or killing, the other.

Maryam incites excitement for Nawaz’s return

  • Claims the PML-N supreme leader is facing fake charges and that upon his return, he will “go to Jati Umra”
  • Mentions that Nawaz’s detractors are currently “lying in the dustbin of history.”

LAHORE: PML-N Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz stated on Sunday that despite being removed from office numerous times in the past, Nawaz Sharif always came back “stronger than before.” Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to return to Lahore on October 21 after nearly four years of self-imposed exile.

Many observers inferred from her comments that Nawaz Sharif would return from Jati Umra to discover his wife and mother missing that she was alluding to the PML-N’s ‘promise’ that the former premier would not be detained upon his return.

The interim prime minister’s recent comment that he wanted the law to “take its course” regarding Mr. Sharif was in stark contrast to the words.

Ms. Nawaz spoke at various events in Lahore and Gilgit in an effort to rally party members for Mr. Sharif’s welcome.

The PML-N senior vice president addressed a crowd at Shahdara, Lahore, as part of an event series meant to energise the populace before Mr. Sharif’s arrival from London.

She stated that the “prosperity of the country is returning home on October 21” to make clear the shift in the narrative the party is constructing in the lead-up to elections.

It won’t be someone coming back to their home nation. On October 21, the nation will see a revival of wealth and hope. On October 21, the price increase will end and peace will return.

Prior to the shift in perspective, the former prime minister had insisted on holding the former army generals and superior court judges accountable for deposing him in 2017 and causing “political and economic instability” in the nation.

Ms. Nawaz claimed that the country had been “robbed of prosperity and peace” when Mr. Sharif was last removed from office.

She recalled the numerous times her father had been overthrown and noted that each time “corridors stronger than before.

She claimed that those who had attempted to take everything from Nawaz Sharif and make an example of him have changed and are now acting as a warning to others as they take in Mr. Nawaz’s return.

She claimed that those who overthrew Nawaz Sharif were now “lying in the dustbin of history” — presumably referring to Gen. Bajwa and former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar — while Nawaz Sharif was being eagerly welcomed back home.

The Freelancer’s Plight: Unveiling the Challenges Faced by Independent Workers in Pakistan

A surge of independent professionals who favor the freedom and flexibility of freelancing has recently emerged as a result of the growth of the gig economy. Like many other nations, Pakistan has seen a sharp increase in the number of independent contractors who support the economy of the country. However, there are a number of difficulties that frequently go undiscovered beneath the seeming attraction of this job option. This article intends to highlight the pressing need for support and reform while shedding light on the problems encountered by independent contractors in Pakistan.
The lack of adequate legal protection is one of the most important concerns facing independent contractors in Pakistan. Freelancers are susceptible to exploitation, late payments, and contract violations without the protection offered by typical employee contracts. Laws that recognize the rights of independent contractors, guarantee prompt payments, and offer a process for addressing disputes are urgently needed. Unpredictable income streams are a common source of stress for freelancers. Freelancers must work harder than normal employees because they don’t have a set income and are always competing for work. Due to their inability to plan ahead, obtain loans, or make investments in their professional development, freelancers may experience financial instability as a result of their inconsistent income. This problem can be reduced by creating platforms that facilitate consistent employment possibilities and encourage long-term relationships.
In Pakistan, freelancers frequently do not receive the same advantages as full-time workers, such as paid time off, savings accounts, as well as wellness insurance. Due to their disadvantage and vulnerability to financial challenges during times of illness or when dealing with personal emergencies, freelancers lack social security. To overcome this issue, it is important to promote the creation of cooperative organizations or associations that can band together to negotiate advantages for freelancers.
For freelancers, Pakistan’s current payment system presents major difficulties. Due of the few options available for cross-border transactions and the high transaction costs, international freelancers sometimes encounter difficulties obtaining funds. Just like PayPal A popular online payment method is unavailable in Pakistan due to legal and compliance concerns. Several reasons are regularity requirements, verification challenges, security concerns, limited banking infrastructure. Moreover, dealing with payment-related problems is difficult in the absence of a trustworthy dispute resolution process. The introduction of effective payment methods that are reasonably priced and suited to the demands of independent contractors can significantly ease those challenges.
For freelance workers to be competitive in the constantly changing digital landscape, ongoing skill development is crucial. However, Pakistan has little options for networking, mentorship, and high-quality training. To close this gap and give freelancers the resources they need to succeed in their chosen fields, government-funded programmes can be established, along with partnerships with experts in the field and online knowledge-sharing platforms.
Freelancers are important to the economy of Pakistan since they bring their knowledge and abilities to a variety of sectors. However, their efforts frequently go unappreciated and they encounter several difficulties that impede both their professional development and financial security. It is essential to acknowledge the problems that freelancers experience and to put measures into place that offer them a legal buffer, financial stability, and chances to advance their skills. By solving these issues, Pakistan may create a more welcoming and encouraging atmosphere for the expanding freelancing workforce, maximizing their potential and advancing the country.

“A Call to Action: Urgent Reforms to Eradicate Load Shedding in KPK”

Written by: Waleed Ahmad Sheeraz

Title: “A Call to Action: Urgent Reforms to Eradicate Load Shedding in KPK”

The citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Pakistan, suffer everyday challenges as a result of load shedding, which has become a widespread problem. The ongoing 12-hour power outages have had a negative influence on many facets of society, including the economy, education, and daily activities. It is obvious that swift reforms are required to address the serious causes of load shedding and bring relief to the KPK population.
The region’s insufficient electricity generation capacity is the main cause for urgent worry. Due to the expansion of industry and the population, the need for power is rising. However, the current infrastructure is grossly inadequate to satisfy these expanding needs. It’s past time to make major investments in KPK’s power producing capability. This must incorporate the construction of brand-new power plants with an emphasis on clean energy sources like solar and wind. By varying the energy mix, we can lessen our reliance on finite resources like natural gas and open the door to a more dependable and environmentally friendly source of electricity.
Natural gas shortages in particular make the load shedding issue worse. It is intolerable that a region blessed with large natural gas supplies nonetheless experiences a natural gas shortage. To address this issue, the government and appropriate authorities must give priority to those efforts. Increasing domestic gas production, upgrading the infrastructure for gas transmission, and assuring a constant supply to power plants are all required to achieve this. The people of KPK will continue to suffer needless suffering if this fundamental problem is not resolved.
Load shedding is largely caused by the KPK transmission and distribution system’s inefficiency. It is necessary to take immediate action to address the technical losses, ageing infrastructure, and widespread electricity theft. The transmission and distribution network needs to be upgraded, smart grid technology needs to be implemented, and the fight against power theft needs to be stepped up. To ensure that consumers have a more effective and dependable electricity supply, the government, utility companies, and law enforcement organizations must work together in concert.
It is impossible to overlook the problem of circular debt in the power industry. It impairs the financial stability of power producing firms, making it difficult for them to obtain fuel and carry out essential maintenance. To combat cyclical debt and come up with long-lasting solutions, the government must take a proactive stance. This can entail optimizing the energy supply chain, strengthening payment policies, and enhancing billing and collection procedures. We can prevent the need for load shedding and assure a stable flow of money throughout the energy sector by finding a solution to the circular debt problem.
Finally, load shedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become into a persistent issue that necessitates prompt attention. Comprehensive reforms are required to address the major causes of load shedding, such as inadequate power generation capacity, fuel shortages, inefficient transmission and distribution, and circular debt. Government officials, decision-makers, and pertinent parties must work together to priorities infrastructure investments, diversify energy sources, and put practical solutions into place to address these issues. Only by doing this will we be able to give the people of KPK the dependable and uninterrupted electricity supply they deserve, fostering economic development, bettering public education, and enhancing everyone’s quality of life.

A Decade of CPEC: Transforming the Landscape of China-Pakistan Economic Cooperation

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has developed into a game-changing alliance over the last ten years, transforming the economic and infrastructural landscapes of both China and Pakistan. This article tries to present a summary of the key accomplishments and impacts of CPEC since its commencement, emphasizing its contributions to regional connectivity, infrastructure growth, economic growth, and the advancement of the energy sector.
Pakistan’s economy has benefited from CPEC, which has increased trade and investment possibilities between the two nations. Special economic zones (SEZs) have grown as a result of the corridor, which has also attracted FDI and encouraged industrial cooperation. The CPEC has improved the movement of goods and services, boosting bilateral trade and fortifying economic connections by improving transit networks and lowering trade obstacles.
Pakistan’s infrastructure has significantly improved as a result of CPEC, filling up important gaps and updating transit systems. The building of roads, bridges, railroads, and ports has increased connectivity within the nation and opened the door for improved regional connectivity. These infrastructure developments have helped the socio-economic development of the regions involved by facilitating trade as well as by generating employment possibilities.
Through CPEC, Pakistan’s energy industry has seen a significant transformation. The capacity of the nation to produce energy has been greatly enhanced thanks to the development of power plants, including coal, solar, and wind projects, which has decreased the country’s power deficit and addressed the energy crisis. These initiatives have increased family and industrial access to dependable, reasonably priced electricity, boosting economic activity and raising the level of living.
Local communities along CPEC’s corridor have reaped real socioeconomic benefits. The improvement of infrastructure has made it easier to visit isolated locations, which has led to greater social, educational, and healthcare services. Additionally, the development of employment possibilities across a number of industries has improved livelihoods and lowered poverty rates. Human capital development has been facilitated by skill development efforts and vocational training programmes that have given people the job-market readiness skills they need.
The importance of CPEC goes beyond China’s and Pakistan’s bilateral ties. CPEC has improved regional connectivity and promoted economic integration across South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East as a centerpiece initiative of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The corridor has the potential to act as a crossing point for trade between various regions, fostering stability and economic cooperation. Additionally, the success of CPEC has garnered attention on a global scale, making Pakistan a desirable location for foreign investment and opening up new chances for regional cooperation.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has spurred ten years of impressive breakthroughs in economic growth, infrastructure building, the energy sector, and regional connectivity, has emerged as a game-changer. The strategic alliance between China and Pakistan has helped both countries while also opening up prospects for the rest of the region. As CPEC develops, it has the ability to unleash further economic potential, promote interregional harmony, and promote shared prosperity.

“Political Victimization and Its Effect on Pakistani Social Media Landscape”

Written by: Sheraaz Waleed Ahmad

“Political Victimization and Its Effect on Pakistani Social Media Landscape”

Political victimization is a worrying phenomenon that has arisen as the delicate balance between political authority and freedom of expression in Pakistan has been more and more threatened. This complex network of deeds and repercussions has permeated Pakistani social media, where it has a significant impact on the nation’s online conversation, democratic participation, and larger socio-political environment.
Through social media, the digital era has brought forth previously unheard-of chances for individuals to voice their opinions and engage in public discourse. However, the spectre of political victimization hangs over these conversations, raising questions about their veracity. As government opponents, journalists, and activists come into conflict with the law, their online presence frequently turns into a theatre of war where narratives are constructed and fought.
The increase in political victimization has created an atmosphere of unease, causing many people to be cautious when expressing viewpoints that may be seen as dissent. As a result, genuine dialogues and free discourse are being stifled. Individuals are forced to practice self-censorship, undermining the democratic values that social media was previously thought to support, due to the fear of online abuse, legal action, or even physical repercussions.
Information weaponization on Pakistani social media platforms has evolved as a result of political victimization. The use of fabricated stories, unfounded assertions, and material that has been shared only with certain parties has helped to quiet critics. The effect of such weaponization on public opinion and political views cannot be understated, particularly in this era of “post-truth,” where information can be readily manipulated and magnified through social networks. The deterioration of public confidence is one of the far-reaching effects of this connection between political victimization and social media. Disillusionment grows as institutions created to safeguard democracy are thought to be used for political advantage. Then, as a result of this disillusionment, social media sites create echo chambers where users gravitate towards like-minded people and disregard competing opinions. As a result, there is a polarized offline world and a split digital society.
A multi-pronged strategy is necessary to address the issues brought on by political victimization in Pakistani social media. Digital literacy skills are necessary for citizens to be able to assess information critically and tell fact from fiction. Furthermore, fostering inclusion, accountability, and openness in politics may boost online dialogue and help people regain trust in institutions. The complicated interaction between power, information, and communication is shown by the relationship between political victimization and Pakistani social media. It is crucial for society, legislators, and tech platforms to collaborate in order to create an atmosphere that encourages true conversation as this connection develops. The promise of social media as a democratic instrument, free from the burden of political victimization, can only be fully realized via such cooperative efforts.

Dynamics of Power: Examining the Function of Pakistan’s Establishment in National Governance

Dynamics of Power: Examining the Function of Pakistan’s Establishment in National Governance

The Pakistan establishment has long been the focus of interest, contention, and discussion. The establishment, which consists of the military, intelligence services, and powerful bureaucrats, has a big influence on how the country is governed on a political, economic, and social level. The claim that the Pakistani establishment is “above all” is a reflection of the complex processes that have shaped the nation’s history and system of government. The Pakistani establishment includes notable bureaucrats in addition to the military and intelligence services like the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). This trio has a significant impact on everything from national security to the creation of policies.
The military elite has repeatedly defended its involvement in politics as a way to protect national interests since it is rooted in the historical framework of Pakistan’s founding. The public’s impression of the establishment’s control has been influenced by military coups and periods of direct military rule. The choice and removal of political leaders illustrates the establishment’s continued influence on political issues. The complicated nature of civilian-military interactions is highlighted by the fine line that must be drawn between serving establishment interests and adhering to public mandates.
The establishment plays a significant role in determining foreign policy, particularly with regard to nearby nations. Examples of strategic engagements that have shaped regional dynamics and international relations include those with India and Afghanistan. The establishment’s influence on defence expenditures and critical sectors, albeit frequently indirect, has an impact on resource allocation and economic priorities. The establishment plays a crucial role in maintaining national security, but its ties to specific militant organizations have raised questions. Security concerns and international expectations must still be balanced.
Challenges and Complexities:
Military power and civilian control are inequitably distributed due to the establishment’s perceived dominance, which has raised fears about the demise of democratic institutions. Even while the establishment has achieved diplomatic success, its foreign policy decisions have occasionally led to strained ties with other countries. Periodic power struggles between the military and civilian administration have stressed governance, underscoring the need of cordial civil-military ties. Combating militancy has benefited greatly from collaborative counterterrorism operations with foreign partners, although questions about historical ties to specific organizations continue to be raised.
The claim that the Pakistani establishment rules “above all” captures the complex interaction between military might, political forces, and national governance. Finding a balance between security requirements and democratic principles will be crucial as Pakistan navigates its future. Pakistan’s development into an accountable global player depends on the establishment’s transformation from a dominant force to a strategic contributor within a pluralistic democratic framework.

Shah Rukh Khan leads the fourth weekend box office with Jawan, followed by URI, Bahubali 2, and Gadar 2

The fourth weekend of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan has seen the movie go into overdrive, setting a weekend box office record. After earning Rs 4.75 crore on the fourth Friday, Jawan increased to Rs 8.25 crore on the fourth Saturday, and according to early estimates, somewhere between Rs 8.50 crore on the fourth Sunday. By earning almost Rs 21.50 crore on its fourth weekend, the movie had the highest fourth-weekend gross ever. On the real value front, the movie has witnessed a sizable increase in admissions and numbers over the previous day despite the fact that there was no BOGO deal on Sunday and there was one on Saturday.

Shah Rukh Khan leads the fourth weekend box office with Jawan, followed by URI, Bahubali 2, and Gadar 2

In the fourth weekend, Jawan sets a new record.
With this, Jawan’s 25-day total has reached the record-breaking amount of Rs 533.50 crore, and the SRK-led movie is on track to reach Rs 550 crore by the end of this week. Jawan outperformed films like URI: The Surgical Strike (Rs 18.25 crore), Bahubali (Rs 18.25 crore), Gadar 2 (Rs 17.50 crore), and KGF 2 (Rs 14.50 crore) in terms of fourth-weekend box office receipts. The Atlee-directed film will be on track to set a new week four record as well. In fact, on Monday it will surpass URI (Rs 29.30 crore), the current week four record holder, and begin a path to reach new heights for releases in the future.

The fact that Jawan is trending shows that audiences, whether they are watching it on single screens or multiplexes, agree that it is a hit. Although a lot would rely on how it holds up from Tuesday, the action-packed movie is not looking to stop anytime soon and has serious possibilities of cracking the Rs 600 crore milestone in the long run. In order for Jawan to reach the Rs 600 crore mark, it basically needs to set all-time records in every week that follows, and there won’t be much competition for the movie till Dussehra releases. On Friday, the movie Mission Raniganj will be released, but it will be targeting entirely different people.

Jawan is an all-time blockbuster and all-time grosser, and the trip has now reached a point where it may be difficult for films to be released in the next year.

Operation of the Afghan Embassy in India is suspended

The Afghan embassy in India formally closed on Sunday, more than two years after the Taliban seized power in Kabul after the overthrow of the Western-backed administration.

The Taliban-led government in Afghanistan is not recognized by the majority of other countries, including India, putting numerous Afghan embassies and consulates around the world in a state of limbo.

Pak 11

Operation of the Afghan Embassy in India is suspended

Taliban representatives were not allowed access to diplomatic properties or premises because of diplomats appointed by the previous administration.

The Afghan Embassy in New Delhi announced its decision to stop operating with “profound sadness, regret, and disappointment,” according to a statement posted on the social media site X.

India will assume caretaker administration of the embassy, the statement stated.

A “lack of timely and sufficient support from visa renewal for diplomats,” as well as staff and resource reductions, were cited in the unsigned statement as reasons why maintaining operations had grown “increasingly challenging.”

Rumors that the ambassador and other top officials had just left India as a result of quarreling among those who remained in New Delhi led to the closure decision.

In contrast, the embassy said in its statement that it “categorically refutes any baseless claims regarding internal strife” among its staff and denied any diplomats were “using the crisis to seek asylum in a third country.”

Due to Taliban bombings, New Delhi evacuated its entire mission from Kabul in August 2021, but a small team returned the following year to reestablish the embassy.

However, a few embassies, like Pakistan, China, and Russia, still have ambassadors in Kabul. Most other countries evacuated their diplomatic personnel during this period and have not since sent any back.

many people trapped in India
Tens of thousands of Afghan students, businesspeople, and medical tourists were left stranded after the Kabul power change.

The majority, including Afghan army cadet officers who feared persecution, decided not to come back. Some of them have come back, and Taliban authorities are extolling the virtues of their leadership.

About a dozen Afghan embassies abroad, including those in Pakistan, China, Turkey, and Iran, are completely under the hands of the Taliban.

Others use a hybrid approach, where the embassy personnel continues to handle ordinary consular tasks like issuing visas and other paperwork notwithstanding the absence of the ambassador.

Italian police were called to the Afghanistan embassy in Rome in January of last year when fights broke out after a junior diplomat claimed he had been chosen by the Taliban’s authorities to succeed an ambassador who was loyal to the former administration.

The majority of senior Afghan foreign ministry officials were unavailable to comment on the closure of the embassy in New Delhi as they are now in Moscow for a conference on the nation organized by Russia.

There was no prompt reaction from India.

How to remedy the overheating problem with the iPhone 15 is disclosed by Apple

Apple has identified many elements that contribute to the iPhone 15’s overheating issues and provided solutions.

The business blamed a flaw in the iOS 17 program and assured users that it will be fixed in a subsequent version.

Apple explained that due to increased background activity, iPhones may feel warmer during initial setup or device restoration.

Apple also noted that various third-party applications, including Asphalt 9, Instagram by Meta, and Uber, have been linked to system overloads. Apple stated that they are working with the developers of these apps to put patches in place, with Instagram having already done so on September 27.

They further stated that the next iOS 17 bug update won’t affect the iPhone’s functionality in an effort to allay concerns about overheating.

Apple emphasized that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models’ design, which includes new titanium shells, actually improves heat dissipation in comparison to earlier stainless steel models.

Consequently, the structural layout of the device does not contribute to overheating.

Users may be confident that these overheating issues do not endanger the phone’s performance or safety, according to Apple.
