ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday served Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan with a Rs. 10 billion legal notice for making “baseless claims” against the PPP’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
The notification written by Zardari to the PTI leader stated that Khan’s comments “had caused significant harm and hurt to the sensibilities of the members of Pakistan Peoples Party which are not only in Pakistan but all over the world consequently damaging and defaming their name.”
The notification claims that the PTI leader attempted to link Zardari to terrorist organisations through “baseless accusations,” “blindly disregarding the fact that our client and his party has remained the victim of terrorism.”
The notification further states that the PPP co-chairperson suffered “great suffering, mental stress, and loss of reputation” as a result of the PTI chief’s “defamatory conduct.”

LASBELA: According to reports, 41 people have died as a result of the horrifying bus disaster in Lasbela. The fatal bus slammed into a ravine near the Chinki stop in the Bela neighbourhood of the Lasbela district this morning.
A rescue effort at the accident scene resulted in the removal of three persons from the bus, three of whom were injured but still alive. The two survivors were in critical condition, while one of the injured passed away quickly.
The passenger bus, which had at least 48 people on board, was travelling from Quetta to Karachi when it crashed into a ravine and caught fire early on Sunday morning.
Hamza Anjum Nadeem, Bela Assistant Commissioner, reported that the rescue effort was over.
Nadeem reported the number of passengers and casualties on the bus and added that 40 bodies were removed from the destroyed vehicle. He said that the bodies could not be identified. While the injured passengers were being transported to Civil Hospital, Lasbela, he added that DNA testing will be used to identify the deceased.
Nadeem has previously stated that the rescuers initially encountered difficulties because it was dark in the morning because of the chilly weather.

KARACHI: The dollar rate in the black market has equaled that in the open market days after the removal of an artificial upper cap on the rupee, which drove the local currency into a tailspin. However, uncertainty kept both the seller and the buyer away on Friday.
According to the central bank, the rupee fell by 2.7% to settle at 262.6 to the dollar on Friday, following a 9.6% decline on Thursday, which was the currency’s largest one-day decline.

The Pakistani rupee continued to decline on Friday, losing about Rs12 to the US dollar in the interbank market as the government loosens control over the currency in a bid to convince the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to release a delayed loan tranche.
The local currency moved up from Thursday’s interbank market close of Rs255.43 to Rs268.30 on Friday.
In response to an important demand from the IMF as part of a bailout deal put in place in 2018, forex providers loosened a cap on currency rates, which has caused the dollar to rise by Rs30.41 on the interbank market since Thursday.
The rupee decreased by Rs3 from the previous day to 265 to the dollar in the open market, according to the ECAP’s currency rates.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali hinted at a potential election delay by saying that he does not see the province holding elections within the allotted three months.
The governor stated that 400 tribal elders had asked him to hold elections in three to four months during a meeting with journalists on Friday.

The governor claims that 400 elders from amalgamated districts made together a tribal jirga that urged a census be conducted before to the general elections.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), on the other hand, voiced concerns about the prior census and threatened to boycott the polls, he continued.
