PM Shehbaz promises to provide maximum relief to rain-affected citizens.

PM Shehbaz promises to provide maximum relief to rain-affected citizens

Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif promised maximum relief to the people impacted by the rains in Balochistan and other regions of the nation.

The country’s ailing economy challenges the government faced in trying to address the issue, and the devastation brought on by monsoon rains in the nation were among the topics the prime minister discussed while addressing a National Assembly session in the federal capital.

image 734

PM Shehbaz stated that the coalition government was aware of the damage brought on by the rains and added that it had meetings with the provincial governments for this reason.

He claimed that in areas where people lost their lives and suffered financially as a result of the rains, the provincial governments were working day and night.

The premier announced that “the federal government has decided to increase the relief package for those affected by the rains,” and that a meeting would be held the following day to discuss how to provide aid to the populace.

The premier stated that in order to recover from the losses and assist the farmers who suffered the most, the federal government will collaborate with the provincial governments.

“Put state, not politics, in focus.”

According to Prime Minister Shehbaz, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto oversaw the drafting of Pakistan’s Constitution, which portrayed Pakistan as a powerful, dynamic nation to the outside world.

No matter how much someone tries to interfere with it, the PM insisted that the Constitution will continue to direct and support Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz claimed that the 2018 General Elections saw the worst turnout in the nation’s history. He continued, “Those elections were rigged in such a way as to impose a government.”

The former chief justice issued an order that the Results Transmission System (RTS) be shut down at night and that the vote counting be halted.

PTI-led government

The PTI-led government, according to PM Shehbaz, borrowed more than Rs20,000 billion over the course of three and a half years, and during that time, millions of people lost their jobs and were evicted from their homes.

The coalition government made the decision to save the state rather than concentrating on gaining political advantage because it was aware that Pakistan was in danger of defaulting, the premier continued.

The premier noted that he had had numerous opportunities to become prime minister in the past. “I was offered to become prime minister by a president in 1992; Musharraf also offered me the PM’s post; and when Nawaz Sharif offered me the premiership, I chose to serve Punjab instead to complete the mega projects,” the premier said.

Justice is necessary for progress in a country.
The prime minister continued by stating that without justice, the nation cannot advance. “The times are difficult, but by opposing fascism, we will make Pakistan great,”

As long as he has the support of his party, the coalition’s leaders, and the House, according to PM Shehbaz, he will continue to try. He emphasized, “I will remain the same Shehbaz Sharif, the same servant of Pakistan, no matter what happens.

Shehbaz Sharif

When discussing the state of the nation, he said: “When I go to bed at night, I can’t help but wonder why we lag behind other nations in progress. We still don’t know where we are going even after 75 years.”

He continued by saying that the court should decide while taking truth and justice into account and that, during its rule, the PTI ruined Pakistan’s relations with other nations.

He added that his government would purchase wheat from Russia if they would provide it at a discount. “They sent a letter via WhatsApp stating that Russia will give us cheap oil, while the Russian government denied any such offer,” he said.

The day before, he continued after we had already purchased 800,000 tonnes of wheat, Russia offered to sell it.

iPhone 14 Facing Quality Control Issues Over Rear Camera Lens Cracking, But No Disruptions Expected for Launch

Apple is facing quality control issues with the rear iPhone 14 camera lens, causing some lenses to crack due to a coating, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today on Twitter. The issue has resulted in Apple reallocating iPhone 14 camera orders to a different supplier, helping mitigate the impact on device shipments later this fall.

the impact on iPhone 14 shipments will be minimal thanks to a new supplier stepping in and hopefully addressing the issue. iPhone 14 shipments are expected to be higher than the iPhone 13 with Samsung reportedly preparing 80 million iPhone 14 display shipments for the third quarter of this year.

Mass production of the iPhone 14 series, which will include the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max, is set to begin in August ahead of a launch in September. The iPhone 14 is expected to be a noteworthy upgrade on the higher-end models, which rumors suggest will feature a new pill-shaped cutout and hole to replace the notch, a 48MP rear camerafaster RAM, and an always-on display.

You tell me, where do I score runs? At my home?’: Afridi, Shehzad engage in heated discussion over PAK star’s absence

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi and opener Ahmed Shehzad had a rather strong conversation as they discussed the latter’s absence from the national team.
Pakistan’s star batter Ahmed Shehzad has been making headlines of late for statements over his absence from the national setup. Shehzad last played for Pakistan in 2019 in a T20I, and last month, he openly criticised the management, the coaching staff and former coaches for ‘spoiling and hurting’ his career. Interestingly, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja was asked to respond to Shehzad’s comments, and the former cricketer shunned his statements, insisting that it was “pure frustration.”

download 12 2

On Tuesday, Shehzad made an appearance on Pakistan’s television channel Samaa TV, where former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi was also a part of the expert panel. Shehzad had played under Afridi for a large part of his international career, and as the conversation moved to the Pakistan opener’s absence from the team, Afridi insisted that his support to Shehzad as captain also played a role in the latter’s ouster from the team.
“Ahmed was targeted because of me because I supported him a lot. I gave him a lot of chances, which turned out to be a negative thing for him when I left captaincy. I think people thought he was my favourite,” Afridi said.
“I supported him a lot because I wasn’t finding an opener of his ability in Pakistan. He was performing as well. Obviously, he couldn’t perform in all games but he was targeted because of me as well.”

Shehzad, however, was surprised at Afridi’s comment. “Shahid bhai, listen. I don’t know why you said that. You’ve been a elder brother to me, you can say anything to me. Sometimes, it does hurt me, but you have always been a elder brother to me,” said the Pakistan player.

Afridi, then, interrupted him by saying he wants Shehzad to score runs, to which the Pakistan batter said that he should at least be given opportunities to play.

“I want you to score runs, enjoy your life with your wife and kids. Allah has made life beautiful for you,” Afridi said, and Shehzad replied, “I keep saying that. I want to score runs, but at least don’t deny me the platforms where I can score. I will ask you, when sides in PSL want to pick me, who comes in and says no? You tell me, where do I score runs? At my home?”

Transfer news LIVE: Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico ‘practically impossible’ as Frenkie De Jong ‘prefers Chelsea to Man United’

The Premier League returns next week and both Manchester United and Chelsea look set to define the final weeks of the transfer window with their business yet to conclude. While Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to train with his agent Jorge Mendes, eager for showdown talks over his future, Frenkie De Jong’s position appears pivotal to the landscape in European football with Barcelona desperate to sell, United seemingly keen to buy, but now the Dutch maestro, content to stay at the Camp Nou, has reportedly hinted at a move to Chelsea. United have not changed their stance over Ronaldo it seems, insisting he is not for sale, while the lack of interest since Ronaldo’s agent Mendes looked across Europe for interest could also see the marriage extended for a further season.

download 10 2

Now, the 37-year-old is expected to sit down with new United manager Erik ten Hag after arriving at the club’s Carrington training base this morning. Ronaldo was due to return to training with the rest of United’s international players on 4 July but remained in Portugal, citing a “family issue”. Sir Alex Ferguson has also arrived at United’s training ground this morning, and could be set to take part in talks on Ronaldo’s future.

Elsewhere, Chelsea have encountered more difficulty getting a target over the line after a late intervention from Barcelona in the race to sign defender Jules Kounde. The Sevilla star will cost in excess of £50m with Barcelona poised to trump the Blues again after landing former Leeds star Raphinha. The Mail reports Leicester have rejected a £15m bid from Monaco for Boubakary Soumare. And Leicester are willing to consider big-money offers for James Maddison and Kelechi Iheanacho in order to raise funds to strengthen the squad, the Telegraph claims. Follow all the latest transfer news with our live blog below

Omar Khalid cards 73 to stay in hunt at US Junior Amateurs

His Pakistani compatriot Yashal Shah scores 75 in the opening rounds at Bandon Trails

KARACHI: Pakistan No.1 Omar Khalid stayed in contention to become the first player from his country to qualify for the match play stage of the 74th US Junior Amateur Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon, United States, after carding an impressive round of 73.

Playing in extremely windy conditions at the treacherous Bandon Trails course, Omar bounced back from a shaky start to finish his round with a birdie on the par-5 18th on Tuesday. He is just one shot behind the projected cut after two rounds of stroke play event at the US Junior Amateurs, regarded as the most prestigious and challenging junior event in international golf. Omar was scheduled to play the second stroke play round at the par-72 Bandon Dunes course.

Omar’s compatriot Yashal Shah carded 75 at the par-71 Bandon Trails and remained with an outside chance of qualifying for the match play rounds. A total of 264 top-ranked junior players from all over the world are featuring in the championship. The top 64 will qualify for the four-day match play rounds of the championship.

Omar began his round with a bogey on hole 10 after missing a seemingly easy putt. He was at 38 at the turn but bounced back with a birdie on the 212-yard par 3 second hole.

Meanwhile, the biggest headline of the opening day was provided by Jack Cantlay, the younger brother of reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year Patrick Cantlay, as he broke the championship nine-hole scoring record with a 28 on Bandon Dunes’ front nine. Cantlay started on No. 10, and his second nine included a pair of eagle 3s on the two par 5s, a 45-foot putt on the third hole and a 65-foot chip-in on No. 9. Four over par through his first eight holes, Cantlay rallied to play his final 11 holes in 9 under par to card a 5-under 67.

For the second round, players will switch courses, after which the field of 264 will be trimmed to the low 64 scorers for match play. Should a playoff be necessary to fill the remaining spots in the draw, it will take place on Bandon Trails (holes 1, 2 and 18) on Wednesday. All of the matches will take place on Bandon Dunes.

PAK vs SL: Pakistan lose Abdullah Shafique before Tea amid 508-runs chase

Dhananjaya de Silva scored 109 runs as Sri Lanka set Pakistan to chase towering 508 runs

GALLE: Pakistan lost opener Abdullah Shafique earlier as they were forced to walk out at Tea with 71-1 on the scoreboard, needing 437 more runs to win.

In search of wickets, under control Sri Lanka got rid of Abdullah who went down the pitch for a big hit but misread the delivery to end up giving a catch. Dunith Wellalage took a well-judged catch off Prabath Jayasuriya to remove Abdullah who scored fighting 160 runs in the previous game to win the match for Pakistan.

Abdullah scored just 16 runs including three boundaries. Skipper Babar Azam joined Imam-ul-Haq at the crease and both the batters fought hard to pass the session.

Imam remained not out for 40 runs whereas Babar for 14 as both the batters will return to resume run-chase for the visitors.

Dhananjaya de Silva scored his ninth Test hundred as Sri Lanka set Pakistan to chase 508 runs to win second Test here on Wednesday.

Dhananjaya (109) stood firm after his well-set partnership with skipper Dimuth Karunaratne was broken before Lunch. The right-handed batter stood with tail enders to help Sri Lanka post 360-8(d) in second innings, taking a lead of 507 runs.

Dhananjaya misread the call on the other end and Yasir Shah threw on the target to smash stumps to remove the well-set batter. After Dhananjaya’s wicket, skipper Karunaratne declared their innings.

Karunaratne and Dhananjaya drove Sri Lanka to a commanding position at Lunch on fourth day.

The left-right-hand combination added 126 runs in morning session before Karunaratne was removed by Nauman Ali. Abdullah Shafique took a blinder at short leg as the skipper had to walk off after scoring 61.

Sri Lanka walked off at 297-7 on Lunch. Dhananjaya was leading the charge despite losing his well-set partner Karunaratne. The right-handed batter remained not out for 84 runs as Sri Lanka went for Lunch with a strong lead of 444 runs.

Dunith Wellalage got out after scoring 18 runs and it brought in number nine batter Ramesh Mendis. He remained not out for eight at lunch.

Nauman Ali and Mohammad Nawaz bagged a wicket each in the first session.

India’s attempts to cast aspersions over CPEC shows its insecurity: FO

ISLAMABAD: Reacting to the comments of the Indian foreign ministry’s spokesperson on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Islamabad said that New Delhi’s attempts to cast aspersions over the project shows “India’s insecurity as well as the pursuit of a hegemonic agenda that has held back socio-economic development in South Asia for decades”.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said that Islamabad “categorically rejects baseless and misguided remarks” by his Indian counterpart that were made to politicise CPEC.

Ahmad said that the “CPEC is a transformational project and a harbinger of stability, mutual cooperation and shared development for the region”. He added that as a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative CPEC provides a vehicle for the people of the region to break from zero-sum approaches.

“China’s investment in CPEC has helped Pakistan overcome the energy and infrastructural bottlenecks that once constrained growth and development. Attempts to cast aspersions over CPEC show India’s insecurity as well as the pursuit of a hegemonic agenda that has held back socio-economic development in South Asia for decades,” said the spokesperson.

FO, while rejecting India’s fallacious assertion, reminded New Delhi that it was “illegally occupying the state of Jammu and Kashmir for over seven decades”.

“India’s attempts to mislead the international community about the status of Jammu and Kashmir and to hide its atrocities against the Kashmiri people will never succeed. India is cautioned to desist from falsehoods and baseless claims over a territory that it continues to illegally occupy through brute force,” said the spokesperson. He added that Kashmir is an internationally recognised dispute with the solution lying in the exercise of the right of self-determination in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

The Foreign Office spokesperson was responding to India’s External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi comment that New Delhi opposes the bid by Beijing and Islamabad to include third countries in CPEC

According to Hindustan Times, Bagchi claimed: “Any such actions by any party directly infringe on India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

President Alvi swears in Pervaiz Elahi as new Punjab CM

By Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD:Hours after the Supreme Court struck down Punjab Assembly deputy speaker’s ruling, President Dr Arif Alvi administered the oath of Punjab chief minister to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at the President House in wee hours of Wednesday.

Earlier, it was decided to host the swearing-in ceremony at the Governor House but to the Punjab governor’s dismay, the ceremony was shifted to President House, Islamabad following his refusal to administer oath.
Elahi reached Islamabad at 1am on Wednesday morning to take the oath of office via a special flight from Lahore. Elahi was declared the chief minister-elect by a Supreme Court ruling on Tuesday, which said that he should take oath of office by 11:30pm. The ruling said that if the Punjab governor did not administer the oath, Elahi would be sworn in by the president.

On the journey from Lahore, Elahi was accompanied by Zain Qureshi, Mian Mahmoodur Rashid, Murad Ras and Chaudhry Wajahat. The chief minister’s security and protocol staff also left for Islamabad with them.
Elahi has been elected as chief executive of the province for the second time. Earlier, he was elected as the Punjab chief minister in 2002. He has also served as deputy prime minister in 2011.

Elahi was born in Gujjrat’s Jutt family in 1945 and started his political carrier as the Gujrat District Council chairman in 1983. Later in 1985, he became a member of the provincial assembly for the first time, then in 1988, 1990 and 1993.

He also worked as an acting opposition leader in the provincial assembly between 1993 and 1996 in absence of Shehbaz Sharif. He was re-elected as the MPA for the fifth time in 1997 and served as the provincial assembly speaker.

After Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf overthrew Nawaz Sharif’s government in 1999, Elahi and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain left the PML-N and constituted a separate party – the PML-Q. During Musharraf’s regime, he was first elected as the Punjab chief minister in 2002. Following relinquishment of the provincial assembly in 2007, he was again elected as an MPA and MNA for the first time in 2008 and became the health minister.

He became the first-ever deputy prime minister in 2011. In 2013, he was again elected as a member of the National Assembly. Later in 2018, he won again on two National Assembly and a provincial assembly seat. He became the Punjab Assembly speaker as the PML-Q was an ally of the then ruling PTI.

UNREAL ENGINE 5 BULLY REMAKE TAKES US BACK TO BULLWORTH

School’s out for the summer, and if Rockstar Games gets its way, it could be forever when it comes to the Bully franchise. The action-adventure title is an often forgotten addition to the Rockstar library thanks to the likes of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption taking over. Taking us back to Bullworth, and Unreal Engine 5 Bully remake shows us what we’re missing out on.

Much like ManhuntBully has been lost to the ages. We’ll get onto why a sequel and remake haven’t materialized later, but for the time being, you can check out what a new-gen remake would look like. Although Rockstar seems to be treading carefully since the GTA Trilogy bombed, one fan’s Unreal Engine 5 Bully remake should have the developer throwing all its cash at the idea.

On YouTube, TeaserPlay has become our go-to for Unreal Engine 5 imaginings of what your Rockstar favorites could look like. We’ve previously shown off an impressive Red Dead Revolver remake and a proper new-gen version of GTA III, but now, it’s time to stay behind after class for more Bully

Showing what Unreal Engine 5 can really do, we get a souped-up look at Bullworth’s grounds, Jimmy Hopkins in his uniform, and the sneering Dr. Crabblesnitch. Explaining the build, TeaserPlay says, “In this video, we are going to imagine a Bully remake – a great nostalgic game that we need now in next-gen graphics. We tried to use all the power and features of Unreal Engine 5 to recreate this, such as Lumen, Nanite, Ray Tracing, and Metahuman to create Jimmy Hopkins and Dr. Crabblesnitch’s Face.”

Given the retro love for Bully, it’s no surprise gamers are over the moon with the Unreal Engine 5 Bully remake. Even if it’s only a bit of fun from TeaserPlay and will never actually be released as a playable build. One fan wrote, “Not all heroes wear capes, but modders sure do!! Fantastic work,” while another added, “Don’t expect anything this good from Rockstar.” A third gushed, “The way I see it, Rockstar should hire such talented creators. Great job mate!!”

Iran informs the IAEA that until the N-deal is reactivated, no cameras would be present

image 724

Iran would block the UN nuclear watchdog’s cameras until a 2015 nuclear agreement is reestablished, the chief of the nation’s Atomic Energy Organization said on Monday in Dubai.
Iran notified the IAEA that it had removed IAEA equipment, including 27 cameras installed as part of the 2015 agreement with major nations, after the IAEA approved a resolution criticising Tehran in June.

Mohammad Eslami, the head of Iran’s nuclear programme, declared, “We won’t turn on the IAEA cameras until the other side returns to the nuclear deal. The 2015 nuclear agreement, in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions, limited Iran’s nuclear activities. The governing clergy of Iran retaliated by flouting the agreement’s nuclear limitations.

IAEA Director Rafael Grossi was charged with having “unprofessional, unjust, and unconstructive opinions” on Tehran’s nuclear programme by Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani on Monday.

Apple’s M2 MacBooks no longer have any sign of Intel inside

The transition from Intel to Apple processors started more than two years ago, but it turns out that the CPU and GPU weren’t all that Apple was replacing. As the new M2 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro show, Apple is going all-in with its own chips.

In an  earlier this month of the new MacBook Air, iFixit calls out, “A seemingly Apple-made Thunderbolt 3 driver, instead of the Intel chips we’re familiar with.” Turns out that that driver replaces the last vestige of Intel chips used by Apple in its laptops, according to a tweet by @SkyJuice60. (@SkyJuice60’s Twitter bio states that it is the founder of , which covers the semiconductor industry.)

It appears that the new MacBook Air is the first Apple laptop to feature these new Thunderbolt drivers. Other laptops still use Intel drivers, such as the 14-inch MacBook Pro, according to an. But chances are Apple will be using its own drivers in the M2 updates to the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro that may be arriving in just a few short months.

Not all of the chips in the MacBook Air are made by Apple. The company is still using chips from Texas Instruments, Nexperia, and Samsung, among others. These chips are “smaller” than the CPU, GPU, and Thunderbolt driver, so it’s unlikely that Apple would not be interested in replacing all of them. But as the Thunderbolt drivers show, the Apple silicon transition is about both big and small chips alike.

Oil prices are rising due to supply-side worries

image 723

Tuesday saw an increase in oil prices for a second day as worries about a tighter European supply grew after Russia, a major energy provider to the area, stopped gas flow through a major pipeline. To build on a 1.9 percent gain the day before, Brent crude futures increased $1.14, or 1.1%, to $106.29 per barrel.

The price of US West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose $1.31, or 1.4 percent, to $98.01 a barrel after rising 2.1 percent on Monday. As Gazprom announced that supplies through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline to Germany would drop to just 20 percent of capacity on Monday, Russia tightened its grip on Europe’s gas market.

The decrease in supplies will prevent countries from refuelling natural gas reserves in time for the winter demand season. Germany, the continent’s largest economy, may have to restrict gas use to industry in order to keep its citizens warm over the winter.

According to the CDC, 82 percent of COVID variations in the US are Omicron BA.5

image 722

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Tuesday that the Omicron BA.5 subvariant was thought to account for 81.9 percent of the coronavirus variants that were in circulation in the US during the week ending July 23.

This was greater than the predicted prevalence of 75.9 percent from the previous week.
Globally, BA.5 has been responsible for an increase in new infections and has demonstrated a propensity for eluding the immune defences provided by either vaccination or previous infection.

The findings revealed that the Omicron subvariant BA.4 was thought to account for 12.9% of the circulating variations in the United States. In preparation for a potential booster dose for the fall season, the US Food and Drug Administration has requested that vaccine producers focus on the two subvariants that are now dominating.

US health officials are also advising anyone 50 years of age and older to receive a booster shot, stressing that doing so would not preclude them from receiving a second “bivalent” booster intended to more specifically ward off Omicron later this year.

At a landfill in Kansas, thousands of US cattle were dumped and buried

image 721

HICAGO: Following a heatwave that killed thousands of cows in June, top US cattle feeding businesses delivered 1,000-pound carcasses to a landfill in Kansas, where they were flattened by loader machines and mingled with garbage.

A feeding firm claimed that other livestock were buried in unlined graves. Both are not common techniques for body disposal. But because of the extreme heat and humidity, so many cows died that the state government and cattle feeders were forced to take emergency action. Normally, facilities that turn carcasses into pet food and fertiliser products are overloaded.

In Kansas, the third-largest US cattle state, improvements in the meat business have been pushed for as a result of the widespread deaths and accompanying rush to dispose of decomposing remains. In addition to the other issues brought on by increasingly extreme weather due to climate change, Kansas is predicted to have extra high temperatures this summer that might stress and possibly kill livestock.

Two PIA aircraft avoid a collision in midair over Iranian airspace

By Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD: A mid-air collision above Iranian airspace was prevented by two Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft travelling at the same altitude and on the same route. Details indicate that due to claimed incompetence on the part of the Iranian air traffic control, two PIA aircraft flying in the same area and at the same height, close to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) border, came perilously close to one another (ATC). The first flight was an Airbus A320 from Doha to Peshawar, while the second was a PIA Boeing 777 travelling from Islamabad to Dubai.

According to reports, the ATC authorised two aeroplanes to fly at the same altitude. However, as is customary in such circumstances, one plane was told to drop while the other was told to climb to a greater altitude as the two aircraft drew nearer to one another. All aircraft are equipped with a technology called the Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), which automatically pilots the aircraft by interacting with the TCAS of other surrounding aircraft

Tech giants will self-regulate to limit harmful content in New Zealand

image 719

WELLINGTON: Opponents claim that major digital businesses chose on Monday to forgo government regulation in favour of limiting harmful online content in New Zealand.

Twitter, TikTok, Amazon.com Inc., Meta Platforms Inc., and Google, which is under Alphabet’s control, all signed a code of behaviour.Brent Carey, CEO of Netsafe, said that the companies will follow the code as a form of self-regulation.

Because “too many Kiwis are being bullied, harassed, and mistreated online,” according to Carey in a statement, the industry has united to safeguard users. “We think the governance framework will enable it to develop alongside local realities, while at the same time maintaining the fundamental rights of freedom of expression,” says Graeme Muller, CEO of NZTech.

Meta and TikTok both made statements expressing their support for the code that will make internet platforms safer and more accessible.

Healthy air in the Capital

By Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD: The federal capital’s air quality improved on Tuesday as a result of recent monsoon rains that pounded various parts of the country, which has helped reduce pollution. Due to the persistent rainy weather and limited vehicle traffic on the roads, the air quality was assessed as being healthy because the suspended particles and pollutants ratio were both within the permitted limits in the atmosphere. The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA), which monitors air pollutants ratio for 24 hours based on three intervals of eight hours of data collection from various sites, is the source of the air quality information.

The Pak-EPA data showed that the contaminants were below the allowable thresholds of national environmental quality requirements throughout the three data monitoring intervals, keeping the air quality high (NEQS). The average concentration of the dangerous air pollutant PM2.5, a deadly atmospheric contaminant, was 9.66 micrograms per cubic metre, which is greater than the NEQS of 35 micrograms per cubic metre and indicates bad air quality. The combustion of an engine, industrial pollutants, the burning of trash or combustible materials, and dust kicked up by fast-moving vehicles travelling on unpaved sections of the road are the main sources of PM2.5.

Additionally, an EPA official claimed that the regular forest fires in the nation’s capital increased the amount of suspended particles, dust, and particulate matter in the air. Prior to the arrival of rain, the particle matter had exceeded the permitted limits beyond 40 microns, primarily because of the prolonged hot and dry conditions. In the past 24 hours, the nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and sulphur dioxide (SO2) concentrations in the atmosphere were 3.24 and 11.7 microgrammes per cubic metre, respectively, below the NEQS of 80 and 120 microgrammes per cubic metre.

According to him, the majority of these effluents were created during the normal operation of industries and industrial operations that were previously under control. He advised the general public to avoid lengthy outside visits, wear facial covers and goggles when going outside, and avoid prolonged outdoor visits if they had respiratory illnesses or other serious heart or lung diseases. The Met Office had also warned that a system of moist currents entering from the Arabian Sea would penetrate higher sections of the country and bring rain, wind, and thundershowers. From June 15 to June 23, the system was supposed to produce windy and rainy weather in various sections of the nation.
