Former Pakistani captain Mohammad Hafeez has advised Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to work on enhancing their intent and demonstrating a drive to score more points.
The Green Shirts begin a seven-match series against England in Karachi on Tuesday, the tourists’ first visit to Pakistan since 2005, as part of their preparation for the T20 World Cup in Australia that starts next month.
Hafeez, alias Professor, stated that the starting batters should exhibit a desire to score runs as openers in a conversation with local media.
“Babar and Rizwan are Pakistan’s best duo, as I have previously stated. They have aided Pakistani cricket’s success and expansion.
But if there is anything that both players could work on, it would be their intent, according to the former all-rounder.
“You might have greater influence by being less successful and consistent. This was the thought that went into my remark.”
In T20Is, he said, Pakistan’s middle-order strategy is harsh, which is one of the main reasons they are occasionally exposed.
