Two terrorists and a policeman were murdered in an attack on a patrol post in Mianwali.
According to a statement from Punjab police commissioner Usman Anwar, during an early-morning attack on the Kundal patrolling post in Mianwali, two terrorists were slain and one policeman was martyred.
“Kundal Punjab Highway Patrolling Post, in a daring operation assisted by the Counter Terrorism Department Punjab, successfully thwarted an attack by 12 to 15 terrorists last night at approximately 23:45 hours,” it claimed.
The statement claims that Head Constable Haroon accepted death during the operation, which was over after 7am, while numerous terrorists were hurt. “Two terrorist bodies were discovered following a thorough area search conducted by the CTD personnel,” it continued.
Zubair Nawaz, the brother of Tehreek-Taliban Ameer Arshad Nawaz, has been positively identified as one of the terrorists.
The second terrorist was named as Muhammad Khan, who was a “dedicated member of the group” and “proved to be more dangerous than Zubair,” according to the statement.
It said that “extensive efforts, including assistance from Nadra, numerous intelligence agencies, and cutting-edge software used by the Counter Terrorism Department, resulted in His identification.”
“Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar has stated that this operation is a monument to the bravery and steadfast devotion of our security officers and confirms our group’s determination to safeguard the safety and security of our residents.
“We remain resolute in our fight against terrorism, and such acts of terror will not deter our pursuit of peace and justice,” the statement said in its conclusion.
“Our counter-terrorism department and intelligence agencies keep giving us information, and we knew that they could attack a border post in Punjab to spread panic,” the man claimed.
The patrolling post was one kilometre inside the KP border, and soldiers had been informed about the attack, according to the Punjab police chief speaking about today’s attack. They were ready and positioned themselves on rooftops with small machine guns as terrorists struck from two different directions with heavy weapons.
The forces’ response, according to the IG, led the terrorists to leave, but the “CTD, elite forces, DPO, and SHO” all arrived at the scene right away.
He added that a search operation was being conducted to rid the area of any additional attacks.
Condemnations
Mohsin Naqvi, the interim chief minister of Punjab, praised the local police force for thwarting terrorists’ “impure intentions” in a statement.
He declared, “Haroon, the martyred officer, is a national hero,” and vowed to help the dead officer’s family in any way he could.
