KARACHI: On Monday, the Sindh cabinet authorised Rs5 million in compensation for the two telecom firm employees who perished in a lynch mob in the Machhar Colony of the city.Aimen Javed of Thatta and Ishaq Maher of Naushehroferoze were slain by an enraged mob last Friday after it was claimed they were planning to kidnap kids.
However, according to Sindh Inspector-General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, they were there to “verify the signals of the cellphone tower.”15 people who were shown in the incident’s video have been arrested, the IG told the cabinet.Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah responded by saying that such crimes could not be overlooked and that the murderers would be brought to justice. He also noted that public trust in the police had declined.
