The military reported Monday that six Pakistani personnel were killed in a helicopter crash in southwest Pakistan, the country’s second fatal helicopter accident in little more than a month.
Near Khost, a small town in the Balochistan province that borders Afghanistan and Iran, the chopper crashed.
Late last night, a helicopter that was on a mission crashed. Six people, including two army majors (both pilots), accepted shahadat (martyrdom) in the disaster, according to a statement from the military.
Regarding the reason for the crash or the kind of aircraft, no further information was provided. There hasn’t been any recent flooding in the region where the chopper landed.
Early in August, a helicopter carrying six Pakistani service members crashed while carrying out flood relief operations in Balochistan, killing one of the army’s senior commanders.
Devastating flooding has been caused by this year’s intense monsoon rains in Pakistan, especially in the regions of Sindh and Balochistan.
