Upon Hajj, millions of pilgrims congregated on the fields of Arafat on Saturday, the Grand Mosque of Makkah’s Imam, Sheikh Maher Bin Hamad Al Muaiqly, delivered a deep sermon on the occasion, emphasizing the core tenets of Islam.
The speech began with prayers glorifying Allah and praising His qualities as the Most Knowing, Most Wise, Most Aware, and Most Capable. The Imam emphasized Allah’s total dominion over the cosmos by citing passages from the Quran that demonstrate His omnipotence and the creation’s obedience to His will.
He stated, quoting the Quran, “He has subjected the sun, moon, and stars to His command and quickly covers the light of the day with the darkness of the night.” All creation and all commands belong to Him alone. Praise be to Allah, the Creator of everything. [7:54]
He emphasized the Quran’s ability to correct behavior and guide people toward virtue, emphasizing its function as a merciful guidance for humanity. “Indeed, this Qur’an guides to what is most upright, and gives glad tidings to the People of Iman who perform righteous deeds, that for them alone will be a great reward,” he said, citing Quranic verse 17:9.
Sheikh Al Muaiqly attested to Muhammad’s prophetic status and the unity of Allah, reinforcing the core tenets of Islam (PBUH). He presented the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a human being’s savior and a lighthouse pointing the way to Allah’s benevolence.
“My mercy extends to everything in this world,” he said. However, for those who have Taqwa, give Zakah, and have Iman in our signs, I will record My benevolence in the afterlife. [7:156]
The Five Pillars of Islam—prayer, fasting during Ramadan, zakat, faith, and the Hajj pilgrimage—were also emphasized in the talk.
Quranic passages that corresponded to each pillar emphasised its significance in the life of a Muslim. “The month of Ramazan is the one in which the Qur’an was sent down as guidance for mankind, and as clear evidences that show the correct path and distinguish between right and wrong,” he said, emphasizing the significance of the holiday. As a result, everyone who is present during the month must fast. 2:185
Sheikh Al Muaiqly emphasized the fundamental significance of Shariah’s tenets of protecting religion, life, intellect, money, and honor for the stability and development of society. Invoking Quranic verse 4:58, he said, “Yes, Allah teaches you to give trusts to those who deserve them and to arbitrate between people fairly. Magnificent is Allah who is ever Hearing and Saying”
The Imam exhorted travelers to follow the precepts of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by adhering strictly to Hajj laws and worshiping with sincerity. He prayed especially for the Saudi Arabian authorities to help facilitate the Hajj, and he ended the lecture with sincere prayers for Muslims everywhere, especially those who are struggling.
A worldwide prayer for protection, forgiveness, and blessings upon all Muslims concluded the sermon: “O Allah, forgive the Muslim men and women, and the men and women of Iman.” Keep them safe from all harm. Save their faith, their security, their lives, their possessions, their intellect, and their honor.
