The National Information Technology Board (NITB) has been designated as an autonomous organisation by the federal government.
According to a letter from the Cabinet Division, the federal cabinet has approved the deletion of the NITB from the list of attached departments in Schedule-III and its allocation to the Information Technology and Telecommunications Division in Schedule-II of the Rules of Business, 1973 as a result of the NITB being established as a body corporate under the NITB Act, 2022.
The letter continued, “The Rules of Business, 1973 will be amended as necessary to the foregoing effect.”The federal minister for information technology and telecommunication (MoITT), the secretary of MoITT, the secretary of the division responsible for science and technology business, the director general (technical) of ISI, the secretary of the national telecommunication and information technology security board, the chief executive officer of the board, and nine other individuals have been notified by the government.
