The federal government has announced a two-day public holiday in observance of Muharram 9 and 10, corresponding to July 16 and 17, 2024. This decision was communicated through a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, which stated that the Prime Minister had approved these dates as public holidays to mark Ashura, the 9th and 10th days of Muharram 1446 AH.
Muharram, the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a period of mourning and reflection for Muslims worldwide. Any action in this regard will be taken after consultations with the provincial authorities, as stated by the Ministry of Interior earlier today.
