Prior to the T20 World Cup, former all-rounder Azhar Mahmood expressed optimism about pace ace Shaheen Shah Afridi’s comeback to the national squad and claimed that the 22-year-old would not have “any hurdles” when he does so after recuperating from his knee injury.
Shaheen suffered a knee injury during Pakistan’s two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in Galle, and as a result, he was unable to play in the series against the Netherlands, the Asia Cup 2022, or the home series against England. The pacer, though, has been cleared to compete in the T20 World Cup in 2022.
