The current generation’s most adaptable actor, Shahid Kapoor, has performed in a variety of genres. He received a lot of attention for his role as Tommy, the drug-addicted rock star in Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab. In a recent interview, Shahid said that because he abstains from alcohol and never uses drugs in real life, he was first startled when he was offered the part.
Shahid Kapoor admits he was hesitant to take on the role of a drug addict in Udta Punjab
The actor revealed in an interview with a top news outlet that he had questioned Abhishek about why he had given him the part and informed him that he had never used alcohol before. Aj tak nahi pi hain. Maine life’s fundamental element does not exist. I have no idea what being high is like. Only Shahid, in Abhishek’s opinion, could successfully fill the part. He originally had some reservations since he was worried that his drinking pals would question his choice to accept the position given his lack of preparation for it. He dreaded being embarrassed and suffering repercussions.
However, he was drawn to the story and the character, and in the end, he persuaded himself that if he could pull off the role, which he could not in any way relate to, he would be fearless for the rest of his acting career because it was the furthest thing from his reality.
He continued by noting, “And also, it’s a terrific role. How many roles like this are written? If someone else does it very well, I’ll look back and think, “What a fool I was to let go of this opportunity.” Typically, only these kind guys are jogging and carrying out all of this.
Shahid will next be seen in an untitled rom-com alongside Kriti Sanon in the meantime.
