sent to prison on judicial remand for Khawar Maneka
OKARA: According to report, a municipal court in Okara on Wednesday placed ex-husband of former first lady Bushra Bibi Khawar Maneka under a 14-day judicial remand in a corruption case.
Abrar Ali Khan, a senior civil judge, heard the case and denied the police’s request for an extension of Mankea’s physical detention.
On the grounds of a graveyard in Haveli Lakha, Khawar Maneka allegedly had a marriage hall and a few stores built “illegally.” An investigation into the deputy commissioner for Okara is currently being conducted.
On September 25, the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) detained Khawar Farid Maneka, the ex-husband of Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan, in Lahore on suspicion of engaging in illegal construction.
A representative for ACE confirmed Maneka’s arrest, stating that he was detained on suspicion of illegitimately erecting a wedding hall on cemetery property.
Maneka is a prominent customs official from Pakpattan and a spiritual follower of the mystic Baba Farid Ganj Shakkar from the thirteenth century.
