The hearing was presided over by a five-judge bigger bench under the leadership of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial.
“You are a trustworthy and capable cop. No one will be able to obstruct your job, SC will ensure you. Give us some time, then file a FIR. The chief justice advised you to proceed.
Adding, “We are not taking suo motu,” Justice Bandial We will move forward with an earlier suo motu matter challenging the executive’s meddling in the criminal justice system if they continue to drag out the situation.

Justice Bandial added that it is on to the supreme court to make sure that justice is carried out in accordance with the law.
The chief justice continued, “We just want to make sure that there shouldn’t be any interference with your work.”
Additionally, Justice Bandial instructed the police officer to gather forensic evidence while also informing the IG that the provincial government’s “different position” could not prevent police from conducting a fair inquiry.
The chief justice of the supreme court declared that there had been an attempt to kill a national leader and added that a suo motu notice would be issued if the court was unsatisfied with the police report.
Shahkar had already informed the bench that his perspective differs from that of the provincial government.
It’s important to remember that Shahkar has asked for his services to be terminated by the Punjab government with “immediate effect” due to the ongoing impasse over the filing of a FIR for the attack on the PTI leader.
IG Punjab sought to be made available to the federal government in a letter to the provincial administration, explaining that “personal considerations” prevent him from carrying out his duties any more.
The federal government would likely postpone the appointment of a new Punjab IG, according to sources who spoke to The Express Tribune, as the Center is not in a rush to choose his replacement.
