However, Bangladesh mounted a spirited comeback, reducing the deficit with a goal in the 74th minute. As the match approached its conclusion, Bangladesh managed to equalise in the 94th minute, forcing the game into a penalty shootout.
In the shootout, both teams displayed remarkable composure, with the score locked at 7-7 after the initial five penalties. The turning point came when Bangladesh’s goalkeeper made a crucial save on Pakistan’s eighth attempt. Bangladesh will now face defending champions India in the final of the SAFF U-17 Championship 2024, scheduled for September 30. India advanced to the final by defeating Nepal 4-2 in the other semi-final.
Pakistan’s journey to the semi-finals saw them achieve several impressive results. They advanced after a convincing 5-1 victory over Sri Lanka in their final group match. Their group stage campaign also included a 3-3 draw against Bhutan and a 1-0 win over Nepal in their opening match.
