President Vladimir Putin promised an end to a controversial mobilisation that has seen hundreds of thousands of men called up to fight in Ukraine and massive numbers depart the country by saying that Russia should stop calling up reservists in two weeks.The first convoys of Russian servicemen from a “regional grouping” of troops have arrived in Belarus, according to the Belarusian defence ministry on Saturday. This Monday, President Alexander Lukashenko said that his troops will be stationed alongside Russian troops close to the Ukrainian border.
According to the Defense Department, as part of a new $725 million support package targeted at reinforcing Ukraine’s defence against the Russian invasion, the United States would send weapons and military equipment to the country.
After days of pelting cities with missiles, including Kyiv, Putin declared that Russia does not currently need to launch huge new attacks on Ukraine despite fears that Moscow’s stockpiles of precision weaponry may be running low.
