In a significant move towards strengthening economic ties, Pakistan and Russia signed their first-ever barter trade deal during the inaugural Pak-Russia Trade and Investment Forum held in Moscow. The agreement was formalized between LLC “Astarta Agrotrading” and two Pakistani companies, Pak Meskay and Femtee Trading Company and National Fruit Processing Factory.
Privatisation Minister Abdul Aleem Khan expressed optimism that this forum signifies the beginning of a new era in bilateral relations, highlighting the extensive potential for joint ventures across various sectors. He emphasized Pakistan’s attractive business climate, noting that the country is the fifth largest market globally and offers a liberal trade and investment regime where foreign investments are fully protected. “All our economic sectors are open for investment,” he affirmed.
Additionally, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, announced that bilateral trade had surpassed the one billion dollar mark, reflecting the increasing mutual interest in enhancing economic collaboration. The ambassador reiterated that Pakistan considers Russia a crucial and dependable trade partner, aiming to bolster their economic relations further.
