Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding was preferred for Prince William to attend over Prince Harry’s.
Unlike his brother Prince Harry, Prince William always took precedence at the wedding of Olivia Henson and Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster.
Regarding Prince Harry’s decision to skip the wedding, royal writer Ingrid Seward commented, “The Dukes of Westminster have always been close to the Royal Family.” Hugh Grosvenor’s mother, Natalia, was good friends with Princess Diana, the mother of William and Harry.
She said to The Mirror, “Tally, as she is known, is Prince William’s godmother, and Diana was godmother to her daughter, Edwina.”
“In yet another familial connection, Hugh is one of King Charles’ numerous godsons and, even though he won’t be present at the wedding, he will undoubtedly receive a wedding gift from his godfather,” she continued.
Prince George has Young Hugh as a godfather as well. Which brother would be the focus of attention during the wedding was always obvious,” she said.
William had to be the one. After discussing the unpleasant issue with Hugh and deciding that he should step aside, Harry made it obvious he wouldn’t be going, Ingrid added.
According to earlier reports, Hugh Grosvenor sent an invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. However, the Duke of Sussex came to an agreement with him that he would have to skip the wedding since it would be embarrassing for William and other senior royals to be present.
On June 7, Hugh, the Duke of Westminster, wed Olivia Henson in a dreamy ceremony that had the Prince of Wales serving as an usher and grinning the entire time.
Owing to their continued medical treatments, King Charles and Princess Kate were unable to attend the wedding.
