ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday said that
those provinces supporting the long march of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)
supremo Imran Khan would violate the constitution and there would be
consequences for it.
Imran Khan was condemned by the interior minister in a press conference for
misleading the public and splitting the country with his uncivil behavior. Imran
Khan, according to him, aims to defame state institutions.
He stated that everyone is equal before the law and that no one will be permitted to
impose their own laws in reference to the state of law and order in the capital.
An inquiry regarding Imran Khan’s arduous march received an answer. He claimed
that provinces supporting Imran Khan’s long march will be in violation of the
constitution and face repercussions. “The federal government has authority under
the constitution and I would ask the cabinet and prime minister to exercise it in
such a situation,” he continued.
Rana Sanaullah warns of action against provinces supporting the long march
Regarding a different inquiry regarding transgender-related legislation, Rana
Sanaullah responded that all decisions should be made in accordance with our
religion, which serves as our ultimate source of guidance. “Everything else comes
after being Muslims, for us. He said, “Religious authorities would be consulted on
this topic and we would have to govern our lives in accordance with Islam.
If PTI long march participants tried to approach D-Chowk, he warned that severe
action would be taken against them. Since the supreme court has already given
instructions in this regard, protesters may gather at F-9 Park or other locations. The
minister underlined that any effort to approach D-Chowk will result in swift
action.
He criticized Imran Khan’s behavior and asserted that due to his extraordinary
personality, no one could bargain with him. Speaking about the Toshakhana case
against Imran Khan, he claimed that the former prime minister had engaged in
embezzlement and had acquired money by selling gifts in the market totaling
roughly Rs. 260 million.
Since it was unclear who had signed the agreement, he criticized Imran Khan for
an out-of-court settlement reached in a case involving more than Rs 50 billion in
money laundering by the previous administration. According to him, Rs 50 billion
in Bahria Town was seized after being illegally transferred and returned in
exchange for the donation of land to the Al-Qadir trust.
