June 16, ISLAMABAD (APP): Barrister Aqeel Malik, the Federal Government’s spokeswoman for legal affairs, stated on Sunday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) needs to stop its propaganda and anti-state actions. Instead of harming the country’s interests abroad, the PTI should engage in political discourse with the government to discuss potential solutions.
A news conference was being held by the Legal Affairs Spokesperson to inform the public on the political party’s foreign anti-state actions. According to Barrister Malik, the PTI’s animosity against Pakistan was unprecedented, given that it was enacting anti-Pakistan laws abroad.
“Pakistan is an autonomous nation that does not accept orders from other states. We desire cordial ties with every country. Nonetheless, he noted, “the PTI had hired lobbyists and PR firms to promote anti-Pakistan campaign abroad. This was part of a concentrated smear campaign against Pakistan in foreign countries that started after the 2022 vote of no confidence which mounted the anti-Pakistan propaganda.”
Congressman McCormick claimed that PTI was the source of all the links in Resolution 901, which he had introduced in November 2023, adding that the party was the mastermind behind all anti-Pakistan legislation and that the Pakistani diaspora living abroad, who have a strong affiliation with the party, was being used for PTI’s covert purposes.
If the anti-state agenda was advanced, he said that the Pakistani government and state would retaliate against Pakistanis living abroad.
“The US Secretary of Defense received a letter from 65 legislators in May 2023 urging him to give Pakistani democracy and human rights preservation top priority. In November 2023, a letter was sent by 11 legislators to the US Secretary of State requesting a halt to US aid to Pakistan. The Spokesperson stated that 31 legislators wrote to the US President and Secretary of State requesting that they not recognize the Pakistani government established after February 2024.
He emphasized that PTI was the one behind all of these strategies, employing PR companies and lobbyists to aggressively spread misinformation about Pakistan.
“PTI is targeting Pakistan with a targeted, malevolent effort. Barrister Aqeel claimed that the modifications being proposed by the PTI-influenced House of Representatives are all connected to forces that are anti-state and country enemies because India plays a significant part in them and they are joining PTI to work on the narrative that is anti-Pakistan.
He restated that the Pakistani state and administration were well cognizant of the campaign and those behind it.
“You (PTI) cannot oppose the state because you are weakening it, and it is not acceptable or tolerated in society. Let’s be clear: no political party is above Pakistan. The state will not tolerate any anti-state agenda or narrative, he continued. He asked the PTI to reconsider its actions, saying that it had allied itself with enemies of the nation and embarked on an anti-national agenda for political ends. “PTI is starting to cause the nation embarrassment in foreign venues. We are all Pakistanis, even you. It is our duty to serve the nation. No one is prohibiting you from being involved in politics, but this kind of nasty and hostile politics is not acceptable,” he continued.
