Sarah Ferguson and Princess Diana were each other’s wingwoman prior to their marriage.A week prior to Sarah Ferguson’s wedding, Princess Diana was purportedly detained for her wild behaviour on her hen night.
The night before Fergie was married, the ex-Princess of Wales—who was good friends with Prince Andrew’s wife—was discovered posing as a police officer.
In July 1986, Prince Andrew and Fergie tied the knot.
Fergie discussed the event on the White Wine Question Time podcast, saying, “On my hen night we did dress up as policewomen and we were arrested by parks police.”
“And once we were loaded into the back of the parks police van, Diana leaned over and started munching on his smoky bacon crisps—the driver. She ultimately had to flick her call sign, the ring, when we were detained. And finally, we were able to get off.”
The Duchess of York went on to describe how Queen Elizabeth II handled the matter, saying, “I was definitely brought before the boss the next day. Fortunately, the HM did chuckle.
She continued: “We both flashed our rings because I had one by then, it was certainly a very good memory.”
