ISLAMABAD: the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is expected to hear petitions calling for an inquiry into the party funds of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) the next week.
According to sources, CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja has ordered ECP to schedule hearings for the PPP and PML-N foreign funding petitions for next week.
Farrukh Habib, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had petitioned the ECP in opposition to the PPP and the PML-N.
In response to suspicions of foreign funding, Pakistan’s Election Commission (ECP) opened an inquiry into the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in 2019.
It was previously revealed that no evidence of the PPP and PML-N receiving multimillion dollar donations had been discovered.
Five of the seven of these hidden accounts, according to the sources, are run in Punjab, with one each in KP and Sindh. The party has only disclosed a record of 2% of its accounts, they continued, adding that “PML-N has failed to divulge details of Rs450 million.”
In addition, the sources asserted that the PPP and PPP-Parliamentarians exchanged money illegally, with the latter sending Rs. 100 million to the former.
