KABUL: Police in Kabul said on Thursday that a blast that occurred during evening prayers on Wednesday had claimed the lives of 21 individuals.
Although there have been fewer bombings in Afghanistan since the Taliban took back control, several strikes, many of which targeted minority communities, have shaken the nation in recent months, including three that the Daesh group has claimed responsibility for.
The explosion on Wednesday night has not yet been assigned a cause. In the words of Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran, “the blast was triggered by explosives put inside the mosque.”A loud explosion that broke the windows of surrounding buildings was heard in a neighbourhood in northern Kabul.
