In order to lessen the pain of the nation’s flood victims, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has encouraged all provincial governments to work with the federal government regardless of their party allegiances.
On Thursday, he made this statement while serving as the meeting’s head of the National Flood Response and Coordination Center in Islamabad.
The prime minister announced that farmers in flood-affected areas would receive seeds as the wheat sowing season got underway.
He stated that the expense would be split equally between the federal and provincial governments, at 50% each. He continued by saying that NDMA buys seeds of the highest calibre.
He claimed that Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have refused to recognise that the provincial administrations of Sindh and Balochistan have chosen the districts where they require assistance from the federal government.
In order to prevent a scarcity of wheat, the prime minister encouraged the two provincial administrations to work with the federal government.
He claimed that in order to protect every dollar of the national exchequer, the federal government does not permit the private sector to import wheat.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the government was bridging the four-year supply and demand deficit in wheat. Nobody would be permitted to take advantage of this disastrous circumstance to make money or conduct hoardings, he made it quite plain.
He claimed that relatives of those who perished, were hurt, or suffered in any other way as a result of the floods are being transparently given cash relief assistance amounts.
The prime minister claimed that further necessary supplies, including tents, food packages, water, mosquito nets, and medicines, had been dispersed around the nation in accordance with the needs of each flood-affected area.
He claimed that China would send us premium winter tents in time for the impending cold.
At the time, the prime minister gave the relevant officials the go-ahead to complete and approve project cycles for development work in flood-affected districts within a four-day period.
A thorough rehabilitation plan for the flood victims must also be finished and delivered to the international donors, according to directives he had issued.
The head of the National Flood Response and Coordination Center, the head of the National Disaster Management Authority, and top representatives from the concerned departments also attended the conference. Chief Secretaries of the provinces and the Chief Minister of Sindh took part.
A detailed Post Disaster Need Assessment report prepared with the cooperation of the federal government, provincial governments, and international organisations will be presented on the 24th of this month, according to information provided to the meeting. Comprehensive planning for the rehabilitation of flood victims is in its final stages.
The meeting was briefed by the chairman of the NDMA regarding efforts for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation. He stated that in addition to giving tents, mosquito nets, and food to flood-affected areas, boats and pumps for water drainage are also being made available.
According to him, generators have been made available in locations where the supply of energy is interrupted.
The Prime Minister gave instructions for the prompt delivery of special cold-resistant tents donated by China for flood victims in cold locations after the Chief Secretary of Balochistan informed the meeting of the difficulties flood victims were experiencing owing to the cold weather.
