Pervez Khattak, the senior leader of the PTI, denied on Monday that the party and its leaders had approached the government for discussions after prominent members of the ruling alliance made the assertion.
Last week, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and party leaders Khattak and Fawad Chaudhry asked the government to hold talks regarding two specific issues — election dates and the choice of the army chief. This was according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah.
The former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stated to press in Peshawar that “no meeting has been conducted with the government for negotiations and no backdoor conversations are taking place.”
