Thailand defeated Pakistan 3-0 in the final of the ACBS Asian 15 Red Men’s Team Snooker Championship 2024 in Riyadh. The scores were 61-4, 75-53, and 90-26. In the first singles match, Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal struggled, and in the second singles match, Awais Munir showed resilience but ultimately fouled, allowing the Thai player to secure the win. The doubles frame followed a similar pattern, leading to Thailand’s victory and Pakistan securing a silver medal.
Earlier, Pakistan had a strong performance in the semi-final against Hong Kong. After losing the first frame, they bounced back to win 3-1. Iqbal lost his initial singles match 47-72, but Munir equalized with an 80-44 victory. In the doubles frame, Pakistan achieved a 99-clearance break, securing the win. Iqbal then won his second singles match 28-82, clinching the semi-final victory.
In the quarter-finals, Pakistan defeated India (2) with a 3-0 scoreline, with winning scores of 63-35, 75-22, and 70-06. India’s team included Sarav Kothari and Hussain Khan.
Notably, Munir recently won the Asian 6-Red Snooker Championship in Riyadh, defeating Hong Kong’s Nansen Wan 6-3. The match saw Munir taking a 5-2 lead before Wan made a comeback in the eighth frame. However, Munir displayed excellent control in the ninth frame to win with scores of 0-65, 35-26, 27-36, 38-20, 0-65, 13-46, 8-60, 34-0, and 27-40.
