On Wednesday, Pakistan and Kazakhstan reached an agreement to concentrate their cooperation on the energy industry.
According to a news release, the agreement was made at a meeting between Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, and Pakistan’s minister of state for petroleum, Dr. Musadik Malik.
Dr. Musadik was grateful for the long-standing friendship and brotherly ties.
He added that Pakistan may gain a lot from Kazakhstan’s enormous energy reserves.
“Not only can Pakistan’s urgent energy needs be satisfied, but Pakistan can also act as a gateway to Kazakhstan’s energy goods through Gwadar and be a participant in the global energy trade,” he continued.
The ambassador endorsed the minister’s proposal and asserted that both nations would profit from it.
He added that there is great potential for commerce between Kazakhstan and Pakistan and that the two countries exchanged $200 million in goods last year.
“Kazakhstan is extremely close to concluding the transit trade deal with Pakistan,” the ambassador declared. Large oil, gas, and coal deposits in Kazakhstan present an excellent chance to strengthen the energy alliance.
The minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s openness to new energy corridors and pledged full help in the area of energy cooperation.
