In a statement released on Thursday, Pak Suzuki Motors stated that the management had decided to extend the auto plant’s shutdown from August 22 to August 26 due to a shortage of inventory.
The automobile company noted that restrictions put in place by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) regarding prior approval for imports under the HS code 8703 category (including CKDs) have “adversely impacted clearance of import consignment which consequently affected the inventory levels,” according to a notice it sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
The motorbike plant, however, will continue to operate, according to the firm, even though the vehicle production will remain shuttered. It had already declared that it would close its manufacturing facility for two days (August 18–19) for the same reason.
