Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI and a former prime minister, claimed on Monday that he was uninformed of the remarks made by party supporter Shahbaz Gill on a pay channel that ultimately resulted in his imprisonment.
Speaking in the nation’s capital at a conference on judicial independence, Khan claimed that Gill later told him about his remarks. In his remarks, Khan claimed that there was no arrest warrant for Gill when she was brought into jail. He said, “Gill was stripped naked and his images were taken.”
According to the former prime minister, the magistrate was informed by the report that his chief of staff had been tortured, but the man was nonetheless reported to the police.
Separately, Khan dared the coalition government to arrest him when he was presiding over a parliamentary party meeting at his Bani Gala home.
The former prime minister filed a pre-arrest bail application in the Islamabad High Court earlier today to escape being arrested in a terror case brought against him yesterday (Sunday) night, and he was granted transit bail for three days until August 25.
